Two suspected teenage cult members, who allegedly stole two phones worth N100,000, on Monday apoeared before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Nineteen-year-old Ibrahim Ayinde, and a 17-year-old (name witheld) are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Oriabure, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 6, at 1p.m., at Tejuosho Market in Yaba, Lagos.
Oriabure alleged that the defendants stole the two phones from a student of Yaba College of Technology, Mr Balogun Oluwagbenga, on his way home from school.
“The defendants stopped the complainant at the market junction and threatened to beat him up if he would not give them the phones.

“My Lord, they collected the phones and entered a Keke (tricycle), but some policemen on duty stopped to search them and recovered the stolen phones on them.
“On investigation, it was also discovered that they were members of “Eiye” confraternity that has been disturbing the peace of the area they were arrested,” he said.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that stealing attracts three years’ jail term.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ojuromi, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum.
Ojuromi said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The magistrate adjourned the case until March 3 for trial.
