Nigerian youngster Ossai Stephen Nosike has pledged to replicate his impressive goal scoring form with Grupo Desportivo Vilar de Perdizes if invited to the national Under-23 team otherwise known as the Olympics Eagles.
The 20-year-old Nosike has been in excellent form for the Portuguese Pro-National League side with an impressive 15 goals in 18 matches so far to emerge as the club’s leading top scorer.
“ It would be a great honour for me to play for the national U-23 team because that is my dream and I believe I can do as much as I’m doing for my club if given the chance to play for the national team,” hinted the burly striker who admires the free-scoring legendary Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“I have scored 15 goals in the on-going season; we are currently third on the league table while I’m third on the goal scorer chart in the league.
“By the grace of God, more goals are still coming and I really want to thank God Almighty, my coaches and my teammates here at Vilar de Perdizes.”
Nosike’s goal scoring ability is never in doubt since he joined the legion of Nigerian professional abroad and two seasons ago, he reportedly scored 29 goals for SC Vila Real which further underlines his huge potentialities.
“The secret of my goal scoring form is hard work and the grace of God,” noted Nosike who was blooded at Brighter Tomorrow in Umuekwune Ngor-Okpala in Imo State.
Meanwhile, checks at the national Under-23 camp in Abuja revealed coach Imama Amapakabo is already looking at the possibility of extending an invitation to Nosike as the team prepare earnestly for the upcoming next month’s Total U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
“My dream is to play for my great country, Nigeria. I will be grateful if only I will be giving the opportunity to showcase what I have,” noted Nosike who had a brief stint at SC Freamunde en route to Vilar de Perdizes.
