ACI to boost airports’ revenue

Global airports’ manager, Airports Council International (ACI), has begun moves to improve the generation of non-aeronautical revenue for airports in Africa, its Regional  President for Africa, Saleh Dunoma has said.

The move, Dunoma said, was part of the Council’s drive to improve safety, security and sustainable development of aviation in Africa.

In an interview in Lagos, Dunoma said the global body was committed to optimising revenue growth among its member-countries as part of its strategic objective to lift the sector.

According to him, airports are facing limited opportunities to raise non-aeronautical revenue.

A focus on non-aeronautical revenue, he said,  had become imperative; because  airports need to develop the necessary strategies to introduce new innovative products, diversify the portfolio and create new sources of revenue.

He said: “We have heard about the importance of developing non-aeronautical revenue for the region’s airports and how this programme is tailored to help our members to boost their commercial revenue.”
