Owners of Merry Home Hotels, Aba, Abia State, have denied allegations of murder prior to the case of a lady whose two-year-old daughter was taken away alive as recorded in one of the rooms on April 15.
The management said this in reaction to a report titled police investigate deaths at Aba hotel’ published by The Nation on April 25.
It was reported “over seven murder cases have been recorded at the Hotel since the beginning of 2022.”
Police spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed investigations were ongoing.
Regretting and condemning the murder incident of the lady within its premises, the management explained it “may not be in a position to know what happens inside the hotel rooms, as guests enjoy privacy,” adding there was no cry for help.
It noted “there is enough security in and around the premises of the hotel.”
“As people that are in the hospitality business and a responsible firm, we had, before now, put in place good security measures and have thus assisted the Police immensely in their investigations, believing that the Police will, as usual see to it that the culprits will be apprehended and made to face the long arms of the law.”
The management claimed the allegations of missing persons in the hotel are equally a total falsehood “as the hotel has not recorded such an incident.”
It challenged anyone with proof to forward it to the State Police CID for investigation.
The hotel blamed the development on “handwork of detractors out to tarnish the image of the Hotel/Management”, promising to continue keeping the public abreast as events unfold.
