Abducted girls: Monarchs appeal to kidnappers

Traditional rulers in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State have appealed to the abductors of the three girls whisked away from their hostel at Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary, Ikorodu, to release the girls immediately.

The Monarchs, who were led on a fact finding mission to the school on Thursday by the Ayangbure of Ikoroduland, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, while commiserating with the management and parents of the school, said considering the age and innocence of the pupils, it is in the best interest of everybody for the kidnappers to release them.

Oba Shotobi urged the management of the institution not to be deterred by the incident as such occurrence is alien to Ikorodu and its environs. He called on the authorities of the school to look inward and provide necessary infrastructures needed to prevent a recurrence in future.

The Ikorodu Oba, who was accompanied to the school by other prominent Monarchs including the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudashiru Agoro, the Obateru of Egbin, Oba Akeem Oyebo amongst others, thanked the Lagos State Government and security agencies for their prompt responses to the incident.

“I am very optimistic that the girls would be found hale and hearty. We must not allow this incident to weigh us down as such is alien to us here in Ikorodu. I call on the authorities of the school to look inward and provide necessary infrastructures needed to prevent a recurrence in future.

To the kidnappers, I want them to release the girls immediately. I am appealing to them for the sake of God not to harm those innocent girls who were sent here by their parents to learn.  Considering the age and innocence of the pupils, it is in the best interest of everybody for the kidnappers to release them,” he said.
