If Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, thought his journey to the National Assembly in 2023 will be an easy ride, he must have thought wrongly.
Sentry can reveal that the governor is being kept on his toes as the battle for the Abia South Senatorial seat rages. Ikpeazu’s headache is being caused by his erstwhile ally, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

After dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and resigning his position as Senate Minority Leader, Abaribe signalled his intention to do battle with Ikpeazu over the senatorial seat.
His entrance into the race rattled the governor’s camp as they obviously didn’t see such a challenger in the mould of Abaribe, who has been in the Senate for 12 years now, joining the fray. The senator had his eye on the PDP governorship ticket until forces led by Ikpeazu made it impossible for him to grab.
With APGA already saturated with heavy weight governorship aspirants by the time he joined the party, Abaribe settled for the senatorial ticket and got a chance to give Ikpeazu serious headaches.
