Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun has warned corporations or stores operating in the state against rejecting old naira notes.

The warning is sequel to complaints that stores were rejecting the old Naira notes as legal tender.

The Nation reports Abiodun on Tuesday also warned commercial banks operating in the state against rejecting old naira notes.

In a terse statement on its verified Twitter page on Friday, Abiodun said: “The Ogun State Government will be revoking the certificate of occupancy, CofO of any corporation or store that rejects old Naira notes from members of the public in the State in exchange for goods and services.

“Commercial outlets are hereby reminded that there is an existing court order by the Supreme Court, the apex court in Nigeria, directing that old notes remain legal tender.”
