Be actively involved in politics and governance – Sen. Yayi charges young professionals

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as Yayi, has urged all young professionals nationwide to ensure that they are fully involved in active politics and good governance while also building sustainable synergies among themselves.
Sen. Yayi,  representing Lagos West Senatorial District highlighted the current status of political leadership situation of the country and the need for young professionals to not only be active in politics and be part of the governance process but to also push for probity and accountability from their political leaders at all levels.
Sen Yayi spoke expressively at a monthly business meeting for the month of March, held recently in Ikeja, lLgos organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Lagos City, an affiliate of JCI Nigeria, a purpose-driven non-governmental organisation of young professionals and entrepreneurs with members between the ages of 18 – 40.
During the interactive session, Sen.Yayi, a certified accountant and a former Lagos State Assembly member, used his personal, professional and political experiences to point out how young professionals can be positively involved in achieving transparent and good governance.
“Business of Government is a collective responsibility and not a task that is given to a particular people. It is in this part of the world that we see business of governance as those of them in government, everyone of us is in government and if you don’t say here you are, no one will say where are you”, Senator Yayi stated.
The incumbent Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Contents and experienced former House of Representatives member dissected the policy and the opportunities inherent therein in Nigerian politics for your entrepreneurs and professionals.
At the meeting, Senator Yayi displayed his supports for creating shared value, made financial contributions N1m towards execution of local organisation’s 2018 edition of “JCI Lagos City Project Smile”, a health advocacy project conceptualized to fulfill the goal three of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals aimed at ensuring good health and wellness by equipping pediatric ward in a primary health center and organise a day extensive medical outreach in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Senator Yayi also used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to facilitate quality partnership of youth organizations with National Assembly.
“ The body that is here are group of young professionals who are coming together to see how they can contribute their own quotas towards nation building and by extension tying to see how effective they can also at least look into what is happening currently in our dear country , because we have no other country than Nigeria. I believe in project Nigeria,
“I am a Nigerian and I love Nigeria more than any country in the world irrespective of our current challenges. I believe one day it will work and for a nigeria to work it starts from here and I can see that. Going forward, JCI has com to stay and you can see me as part and member of JCI”, he further committed.
While appreciating Senator Yayi for the heads-up, the President of JCI Lagos City, JC Toyin Olaogun expressed gratitude to him for honoring the invitation and giving the organization the opportunity to host him as a guest speaker and charge the young active citizens, coupled with the positive impact received by young people present will go a long way to spur them into actions in the right directions.
Olaogun added that the mode and quality of delivery by the Senator showed the quality and robust representation being enjoyed by Lagos West.
