Wife of former Governor of Oyo State and President of Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF), Dr. Florence Ajimobi, has sent a condolence message to the progressives family in Oyo State and the immediate and extended families of the state Chairman of the APC, Omodewu, who died on Monday.

She described the news of the death as shocking and unexpected. Omodewu was the commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development during the administration of the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the first two-term Governor of Oyo State.

Mrs Ajimobi said Omodewu’s death came at a time he still had a lot to offer the party and the people of Oyo State.

She said the late APC chairman was someone she knew so well, “having worked closely as commissioner for Lands during the administration of my late husband, Senator Ajimobi of blessed memory.

“As a commissioner, he was hard working and diligent in his duties and he was held in high esteem by my husband. When he eventually became the state party chairman, he was also someone I related cordially with. His death thus came as a shock to me.”

Mrs Ajimobi said Omodewu’s death had left a huge vacuum due to his invaluable contributions to Oyo APC.

“He died at the most unexpected time. His death came at a painful period, especially now when his contribution to the unity and peace of the party is needed.

“With his death, there is no doubt his immediate and extended families, the progressives family in Oyo State and Nigeria, have lost a dedicated party man and an illustrious son of Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government of Oyo State.”

She noted that no soothing words could ease the pains of his passing away and enjoined those who would miss him to take comfort in his good deeds, which were indelibly written in the hearts of the people, who had the opportunity of meeting with him in his life or worked with him as commissioner and as party chairman.

Mrs Ajimobi urged members of Oyo APC and the family to take consolation in the words of the late South African President, Nelson Mandela: ‘Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers as his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace.’

“Though he died at a relatively young age, Omodewu had done his duties to family, friends, political associates and the people of his community in Otu. May his soul rest in peace.”

Chieftains of APC in Oyo State also mourned Omodewu, describing his death as shocking.
