Nigeria target maximum points
Coach Aliyu Zubairu has hinted that the Fling Eagles would start ‘fast and furious’ when they clash against Kenya’s Rising Stars tomorrow in their last Group B match at the ongoing African Cup of Nations U20 Championship in Egypt.
The Flying Eagles were held to a goalless draw by the Junior Atlas Lions of Morocco on Sunday.
Looking ahead to their upcoming clash with Kenya, Zubairu, who also manages El Kanemi Warriors, acknowledged the quality of the Kenyan side despite their current lack of points in the group but assures that the Flying Eagles would approach the tie with their sights on the three points.
“We’ll approach the game against Kenya with a positive mind set,” Zubairu told the Flying Eagles Media Officer, Sharif Abdallah. “They are a strong team, and we’ll treat them with respect even though they haven’t picked up a point yet. We’ll stay fully focused to ensure we get the three points.”
Nigeria are second in Group B with four points from two games behind Morocco who are also on four points but are ahead because of superior goals difference.

In a related development, Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi, has commended his teammates following their hard fought goalless draw against Morocco, adding they must work harder to seal a place in the quarter final.
“It was a good one. Respect to the opponent and my teammates. It was an intense game because we both knew what was at stake,” Bameyi said.
“Kudos to our coaches. They had the opportunity to analyze our opponents, and we executed some of those tactical plans on the pitch. It worked out well, and we thank God for that.”
With qualification for the quarter finals very much alive following their last two matches, Nigeria will take on Kenya in their final group game tomorrow, April 7th .
