Agency donates motorcycles, sanitary kits, others to Oyo councils

Oyo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) yesterday donated motorcycles, 99 Ahuja speakers and sanitary items to 10 local governments in Oyo State.

The contribution is part of activities to mark 100 days in office of the Chairman, RUWASSA, Babalola Afobaje.

He said the presentation was aimed at ensuring end to open defecation in the councils, as well as communities.

Listing his achievements in the past 100 days, Afobaje said the agency had enjoyed support from United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in an attempt to end open defecation in Egbeda, Ona-ara and Ibarapa-East.

He added that under his supervision, the agency drilled solar boreholes across local governments.

Afobaje said the donation was made to support the efforts of local governments in ending open defecation.

He urged the authorities to ensure timely distribution of the items to the beneficiaries.

Afobaje noted that the agency’s partnership with UNICEF had, to a large extent, impacted the lives of people positively.

He hailed Governor Seyi Makinde for his support to the agency, which had attracted international partnerships with UNICEF and other donors.

The Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Sanda, thanked RUWASSA for the gesture.
