Agency warns public against impersonators

Lagos State Safety Commission has warned the public not to pay money into individual accounts, saying they should pay into designated accounts.

Director-General, Lanre Mojola, said unscrupulous individuals were parading as commission officials and extorting money from people.

He said the government did not operate individual accounts, adding anyone asked to pay money into such accounts should know the agents or officials did not represent the commission.

Mojola said the agency had  measures to curb activities of some compromised consultants, noting it would sue impersonators and terminate consultants found wanting.

He said an impersonator was jailed recently for years.

Mojola noted consultants had authorised identification cards and must always be worn whenever they are on audit or inspection.

The director general urged the public to report activities of unscrupulous officials, consultants or impersonation  on 07000SAFETY and 08181002233.
