Christian Youths under the umbrella of Akwa Ibom Christian Youths Leaders have called on all Youths in the state to collect their PVCs ahead of the 2023 Governorship election in Akwa Ibom.
Speaking to newsmen during a press conference by the group’s National Coordinator, Elder Jerome Obot, the group called on all Christian Youths to get ready to use their PVCs to decide their future and not what their Clerics want them to believe.
He said it was wrong for some selfish pastors who have not said anything about many of their members who are owned gratuity and pension especially retired primary school teachers to now call on members to support a particular anointed candidate.
“Why should a Pastor because he is desperate to be included among Pastors who worship at the Government House Chapel so that he can have money to train his children abroad, go to pilgrimage now want to force members to vote against their own choice?
“Why should someone who do not care even when many of his Church members are living on credit and borrowing to survive now want such members to support an anointed candidate because he was given #100,000 for endorsement”?
Elder Obot said, Christian Youths should get their PVCs ready and get set to vote for another Governorship candidate no matter the political party so long as the person will come and pay the gratuity of their old parents and Church members and not because a greedy pastor who thinks only about how to enrich himself after being bribed with government endorsement money has asked them to do so.
He said the time has come for Christian Youths to see the 2023 election as one that will determine their fate and the faith of their retired parents and members and should therefore get others who have not gotten their PVCs to do so.
