Airfares up by 0.25 per cent

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday said average airfare rose by 0.25per cent from October 2021 to November 2021.

This was made known in a document titled: “Transport Fare Watch (November 2021).”

According to NBS, “the average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey increased by 0.25 percent on a month-on-month basis from N36,932.43 in October to N37,022.97 in November 2021.”

NBS said this report shows Transport Fare for November 2021 covering the following categories: bus journey within the city per drop constant route; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and water way passenger transport.

The document noted that the average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey increased by 0.25 percent on a month-on-month basis from N36,932.43 in October to N37,022.97 in November 2021.

NBS said on a year-on-year basis, the fare rose by 1.99 percent from N36,301.74 in November 2020 to N37,022.97 in November 2021.

NBS: “The average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity stood at N2,644.50 in November 2021 indicating an increase of 0.38 per cent on a month-on-month basis when compared to the value of N2,634.46 in October 2021.”
