Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade says the team will be targeting maximum points in their next game against Australia.
The African side demonstrated courage to earn a point against Canada at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium last Friday.
Canada dominated most of the contest but failed to create clear chances against the impressive Super Falcons’ defence.
The CONCACAF giants had an opportunity to win their first game in the tournament with a penalty, but the team’s captain, Christine Sinclair, missed the spot kick after a fantastic save from Chiamaka Nnadozie.
The African giants will now shift their attention toward their next games, starting with a date against the tournament’s co-host, Australia, on Thursday.
Ajibade, who missed the Falcons’ first match due to a suspension, is confident the Nigerian team can claim the maximum points in their next games at the showpiece.
The Super Falcons are leveled with Canada by one point following the goalless draw between the two countries. At the same time, Australia occupies first after claiming maximum points against the Republic of Ireland in the Group B game.
Randy Waldrum’s side will play Australia next at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, and their final group match is against the Republic of Ireland four days later also at the same venue.
