Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth in Parliament and son of the late former governor of Oyo State has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s dedication to creating laws that promote youth participation in governance and national development.
He made this statement during the commissioning of a state-of-the-art facility donated by Mr. Seyi Tinubu to the House Committee on Youth in Parliament, situated on Mississippi Street, Abuja.
The newly unveiled facility features an e-library, a physical library, and a co-working space aimed at supporting young legislators in their parliamentary duties while fostering collaboration on youth-focused initiatives.
The Young Parliamentarians Forum, an internationally recognized group under the National Assembly for members aged 40 and below, seeks to generate innovative solutions and engage young Nigerians in governance and legislative processes.
Hon. Alao-Akala, who represents Ogbomoso North, South, and Oriire Federal Constituency, lauded the donation, highlighting its potential to advance youth representation and engagement in policy-making.
He said: “This facility will serve as a hub for innovative ideas, youth-focused legislative activities, and stakeholder engagement, further solidifying the National Assembly’s commitment to empowering Nigeria’s youth.”
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also commended the initiative, describing the facility as a transformative addition to youth engagement.

He said: “This innovative space provides an enabling environment where young people can strategize, discuss national progress, and contribute to youth-oriented legislation.”
The Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila lauded the development and expressed hope for its positive impact on youth engagement.
He said: “I wish this existed during my time as Speaker. This is a commendable platform for young legislators to deliberate on nation-building issues. I applaud Mr. Seyi Tinubu for this visionary project, which will undoubtedly enhance the legislative process for young parliamentarians.”
Also present at the commissioning were members of the Young Parliamentarians Forum, and National Assembly members among others.
