The 2025 Africa Memorial Day (AMD) holds on Sunday at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Its Organisers, Correct Connect Africa Foundation, said the theme is: ‘Historical Consciousness and Human Justice.’
Highlights of the occasion include – ‘The Rite of Africa Memorial Day’, a symbolic and spiritual tribute honouring African ancestors lost to slavery and colonial oppression.
Panel discussions will feature historians, legal experts, cultural custodians and justice advocates exploring African memory, identity and reparative justice.
There will be music, spoken word, drama and traditional dance celebrating African resilience and cultural pride.

There will be cultural exhibitions, including heritage installations, art displays and interactive exhibits to educate and inspire.
The Memorial Day remembers and honours our ancestors, awake memory and demand justice through historical truth.
Community leaders, youth groups, academics, artists and human rights defenders, will gather for the event of remembrance, healing and education.
