Amotekun: APC slams PDP for trivialising security

Amotekun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party for ‘trivialising security issues.’

Spokesman for Ondo PDP Kennedy Peretei had alleged that the state government planned to deduct from the workers’ salary to fund operations of Amotekun corps.

The Ondo APC described the allegation as criminal mockery of what it termed popular efforts of the state government to keep the state safe for all, irrespective of religious or political sympathy.

A statement by the party spokesman Alex Kalejaiye said APC was disappointed in the PDP for delving yet into another show of puerile radicalism and striving to demoralise the enviable commitment of the state government.

The party said it was disheartening that the PDP could trivialise security issues for political gains.

The statement said: “The great strides of Amotekun, working in conjunction with security agencies, have been acknowledged. The peace of mind, safety on our roads and honour attracted to the state therefrom, are indicators that the vision and investment into the project have been justified.

“Although the PDP naive attempt to ridicule the government crumbled on arrival, the APC calls on the discerning public to be wary of the main opposition party’s baseless tales in future.

“The state chapter further advises the PDP to raise its standard of criticism above the current kindergarten level so that the public can take it seriously.”
