Operatives of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps in conjunction with a community vigilance group have arrested a 30-year-old suspected kidnap kingpin, identified as Abdurahman Ibrahim.

Ibrahim was said to have coordinated several kidnap attacks in the Ijesa Isu area of Ikole Local Government Area of the state.

Amotekun State Commandant, Brig.-Gen. Joe Komolafe (Retd) said the suspect was arrested in the bush as he scouted for his next victim.

He said, “The vigilance group on sighting him, called our outpost at Iyemero Ekiti who in turn arrested him.

“We have profiled him. On him we found local and protective charms against gunshots. He lied that he was a cattle herder,” the Amotekun boss said, adding that he would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

A kidnap victim, 40-year-old Idowu Ajayi, who identified the suspect as one of the six gunmen who seized him and made him pay N2.5milion to secure in ransom, called for proper prosecution of the suspect.

The kidnap victim said, “I can recognise the suspect as one of the six-member gang who kidnapped me along Ijesa Isu Road on March 14. They made me pay N2.5million before they released me and the lady kidnapped with me that day.
