‘Analytical mindset crucial to governance’

Former Minister of Education, Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, has stressed the need for leaders to be analytical and demonstrate capacity in governance.

She spoke at the second  convocation of School of Politics, Policy and Governance  in Abuja, where 133 students graduated.

The school aims to build a political class equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead and transform politics.

According to her, research showed the missing characteristics of good governance were character, competence and capacity.

Ezekwesili underscored the need for change of mindset by leaders to fix the dwindling economy and security challenges in the country.

The former vice president of World Bank, Africa Region, noted it was imperative to have  disruptive thinkers to educate citizens on consequences of making bad decisions.

Chairman of FATE Foundation, Mr. Fola Adeola, urged  African leaders to think deep and harness the resources to develop the continent.

Former United States Secretary of State, Hilary  Clinton, in a short video, advised Nigerians to exercise their franchise, stressing participating in electioneering would strengthen the country’s democracy.

She told the graduates to utilise lessons learnt from SPPG to change the paradigm for everyone.

Dean of SPPG, Yetunde Anibaba, said the graduates had been prepared to make impact in the world.
