The abducted son of Prof Ango Abdullahi, Sadik Ango has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.
He was among the passengers abducted on March 28 in a train attack and is still in captivity.
Prof Abdullahi, the Convener of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), broke the news to reporters.
He expressed optimism that his son would soon be reunited with his family as efforts were on to secure his release.
It was earlier reported that Sadik had been released only for the father to debunk the report.
