The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ukwa East and West has endorsed Sir Marc Wabara as its candidate for Abia South.
Marc Wabara is the younger brother of former Senate President Adolphus Wabara.
Announcing the endorsement at Ohambele, Ukwa East Local Government Area, Vice Chairman Chief Ogumka Adiele said the endorsement was to “put a square peg in a square hole”, stressing that they are convinced Wabara will attract democracy dividends, which has eluded the people over the years.
Adiele, who pledged his loyalty and support to the senatorial ambition of Wabara, urged party members to be courageous and poised for action because 2018, according to him, is an important year.
Wabara thanked the party leadership and openly gave a quit notice to the PDP in the state and Abia South.
He said: “2018 is a very important year. We’ve gotten to a point of no return. Whatever is to be taken care of is already taken care of. I’ve briefed the party’s leadership and the Deputy Chairman knows about it. I’m happy that today, we’ve come to thank God and take note that the journey has started. Therefore, I, on behalf of the APC, issue a quit notice to the PDP in Abia State.
“I gave the quit notice because APC has a lot to offer. We’ve noticed that for a very long time, we have not been receiving the dividends of democracy, and our people are ready to embrace APC to change that. Many of us that were in PDP are now here in APC. We have the experience to defeat PDP and that quit notice is for real.”
