The All Progressives Congress has the best team in former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Sen Kashim Shettima to win the 2023 presidential election, Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru has said.
He said this during the official inauguration of the Stakeholders (Special Duties) Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC.
The governor noted that the performances of Tinubu and Shettima as former governors of Lagos and Borno State remained unrivalled among other presidential candidates.
While commending religious leaders for supporting the same faith ticket of the APC, Badaru noted that what the country needed was leaders with quality.
Badaru said: “We have the right team, the unbeatable team in Asiwaju and Shettima with the right performance. Those other candidates cannot equal them.
“Compare the track records and performance between Tinubu and them (other presidential candidates) you will see clearly that APC has come with the team that will never be beaten.
“I thank the religious leaders for thinking beyond sentiments and for looking at quality. We need leaders with quality.
“I can assure you that Asiwaju will assemble the best team. He has done it in Lagos.
“Asiwaju is detribalised and he will do justice to all. He has friends and colleagues, people that he trained and built across tribes. I can assure you that Asiwaju will be fair to all Nigerians.”
Coordinator of the Stakeholders (Special Duties) Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC, Sen Grace Bent, said the group would work for the success of Tinubu.
She explained that the decision of the former Lagos State governor to field a Muslim running mate was borne out of political exigency.
Bent said: “I have looked at his manifesto and blueprint. It is a very cerebral and people oriented manifesto. The man knows how to select sound people that will work with him.
“This formidable team is going to be the team that will change things for Christians in Nigeria. Asiwaju has done so much for Christians.
“Asiwaju is a very marketable product in Nigeria. I am convinced that he will build Nigeria; he will repair the faulty foundation of this country.
“These are two men (Tinubu and Shettima) with proven track records, their antecedents will speak it for them. Allow the person that knows the way to lead us.
“We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that we deliver our candidate for the APC.
“Tinubu is the only product that can meet the yearnings of Nigerians. There is no way you can separate Asiwaju from the successes he recorded in office.”
