The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday decried the incessant killing of innocent Nigerians in Rivers State.
It said the state had been turned into a killing field under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration, led by Governor Nyesom Wike.
In a statement by its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, APC said the killings in Rivers State were assuming genocidal dimension.
It urged the police and other security agents to stop the state’s descent into lawlessness.
APC dismissed Wike’s claims that the PDP was being repositioned to take over government in 2019, warning that Nigerians and security agents should not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by the latest to deflect attention from the continued and increased spate of mass killings and violence under the governor and the state’s PDP.
The statement said: “The spate of killings in Rivers State has now assumed genocidal dimensions with horrendous killings and maiming of residents and security personnel almost on a daily basis. On Monday, five mobile policemen, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Nasiru Halidu, were ambushed and killed at Okobe, in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
