The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Tudun Wada, Kaduna State, Abbas Muhammed Anni, yesterday protested what he described as the “illegal suspension” of Senator Shehu Sani.
Sani, the chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, is from Kaduna Ward 6.
Anni petitioned the national secretariat of the APC, Abuja, urging it to disregard the “purported suspension” of the Kaduna Central lawmaker.
The state executive of the party announced the suspension of Senator Sani for alleged anti-party activities.
The ward chairman, after presenting the protest letter to the national secretariat, said: “Senator Sani remains a member”.
He urged the national leaders to disregard his purported suspension.
The letter reads: “Upon the suspension, we held a meeting with the exco on December 28 and denounced the purported suspension of Senator Sani.
“Hence, the suspension is a lie. We are not associated with it.
“The signatures were forged and fraudulently affixed against the names of the officials purported to have endorsed it.
“It is regrettable and lamentable that we were portrayed to have suspended Senator Sani for 11 months. Nothing can be farther from the truth.
“We, therefore, express our support for Senator Sani despite wrong steps from certain quarters.”
Anni alleged that information available to them had it that highly placed persons induced executives of the Tundun Wada Ward with N500,000 to effect the suspension.
He said: “The idea of the purported document was orchestrated by highly placed persons, who summoned a meeting with my executives and induced them with N500,000 to effect the suspension of Senator Sani.”
The ward chairman added: “We have nothing to do with the purported, ill-informed, illegal and misguided suspension of Senator Sani. He remains a true party man. The purported suspension is null and void and should be disregarded.”
