The Director of Contact and Mobilisation Committee Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the Southwest, Alhaji Mutiu Are, has said his directorate had begun the implementation of the party’s “robust” strategy to mobilise people across the region for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Asiwaju Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the ruloing party while Senator Kashim Shettima is his running mate.

Speaking at the inauguration of executive and members of the directorate at the weekend in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Are assured the people that with the party’s strategy, the campaign committee would reach every nook and cranny of the region, including the smallest villages, to win votes for APC and its candidates.

The director said the directorate’s executive had visited major political leaders in Oyo State, including former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, stressing that they promised total support for the Asiwaju/Shettima candidacy.

He emphasised that the qualities and pedigree of the presidential candidate and his running mate made mobilisation for his committee easy.

Are said: “Asiwaju Tinubu and Senator Shettima are men of character, competence, capacity and vast experience.

“Asiwaju laid the foundation for the exponential development of Lagos State and the success that Lagos is today. He revolutionalised the internally generated revenue (IGR) in Lagos State, created infrastructure and institutions, and established additional local council development areas (LCDAs) that have become centres of development.

“Shettima ran Borno State credibly, even when the state was challenged by the Boko Haram insurgency. He battled Boko Haram and delivered dividends of democracy to the people. They are highly esteemed men. We have valuable products on our hands to market to our people.

“I also make bold to say that our job has been made easy. The leadership of the Yoruba, the Afenifere leadership, has already thrown its weight behind Asiwaju Tinubu and Shettima.  While the various sub-nationals are allowed to flourish in a true federal system, we must, at the same time, not lose sight of the centre.”

“We must also be present at the centre. Asiwaju’s candidacy offers the best opportunity for us to be important stakeholders at the centre.”

The Contact and Mobilisation Committee has members from the six Southwest states.

Aside the director, other members include Alhaji Bakai Okedara (Deputy Director); Oye Ojo (Deputy Director); Falade Barde (Assistant Director); Dayo Iyaniwura (Assistant Director); Wumi Ohwovoriole (Secretary); Toyosi Kolade (Assistant Secretary); and Waheed Akanbi (Assistant Secretary).

The committee also has notable politicians like Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Titi Oseni, Afolabi Kazeem and Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo as members.

Are urged all the inaugurated committee members, who he said were chosen because they had been found worthy in character, integrity and political importance, to fully dedicate themselves to the assignment.
