FIVE suspects have been detained at Iyaganku Police Station for the murder of the Commandant, Command Secondary School, Ibadan, Col. Anthony Okeyim.
Col Okeyim’s body was found in his apartment on Monday morning.
The suspects were said to have been picked up on Tuesday.
One of the suspects’ family member, who confided in The Nation yesterday said: “Our father and breadwinner is innocent” and pleaded for his release.
“Our father is an old man who does not know anything about the killing.
“He was employed by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as a guard for the hostel.
“He hates murder and cannot hurt a fly. They should please release him because he is a poor man looking for his daily bread.”
Police spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu, however, said no one has been arrested.
He said the police were treating the incident as a suspected case of murder.
Ajisebutu appealed to anyone with information to assist the police to apprehend the killers.
He said: “No arrest has been made yet. We are still investigating.
“We will neither fail nor falter in our efforts to unravel the circumstances that led to the murder of that promising military officer.
“We enjoin anyone with useful information that could help get the culprits to give it to the police.”
