How to improve military service in face of mounting insurrection was the crux of a reunion and pulling out parade organised by Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) in Lagos.
The parade, which was held in honour of retired senior officers of the corps, provided opportunities for participants to brainstorm on ways to better serve the country.
Speaking at the event, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya emphasised the need to advance performance of NAOC and the Army.
Yahaya, represented by Chief of Logistics, Maj.-Gen. Omotomilola Akintade, said the Army created a safer abode to dwell in by eradicating the menace bedeviling the country.
“The Nigerian Army has significantly degraded terrorists, insurgents, vandals and other miscreants, thereby engendering relative peace across the country.

“These operations and exercises have placed high demand on logistics through facilitation of robust force projection to tackle challenges,” he said.
Lt.-Gen. Yahaya said the Army was partnering local industries to source for logistic items, ranging from vehicles , such as Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP), to wide range of clothing stores, among others.
“The Nigerian Army is being ingenious in looking inwards to improve availability of robust logistics for its operations and other commitments,” he said.
Corps Commander Ordnance, Maj.-Gen. Adeyemi Alabi, said the purpose of the reunion was to increase synergy, engage more to fashion out indigenous and ingenious ways to sustain operations in joint environment.
“The reunion serves as an avenue for both retired and serving officers of the corps to meet and brainstorm on ways to improve service delivery to the Army and other sister services and organisations,” he said.
Alabi further stated the need to foster esprit de corps among officers, soldiers and their families through socialisng.
