“Why does the country support us? Because we went on a march of justice,” Prigozhin said in his latest audio message on the Telegram social media platform.

  • Man City or Arsenal? Two-horse race for Rice

Man City or Arsenal? Two-horse race for Rice

Declan Rice is already becoming the subject of one of this summer’s biggest transfer sagas.

Premier League runners-up Arsenal thought they had their man a few days ago but, as they continue to haggle over the price with West Ham, Treble-winners Manchester City look ready to move with a bid of their own.

The England midfielder, fresh off the back of becoming only the third West Ham captain to lift a trophy, looks set to become the second most expensive Englishman ever after Jack Grealish with the Hammers seemingly wanting at least £90m.

His last game for West Ham saw him lead them to the Europa Conference League crown with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina.

The 24-year-old would likely become Arsenal’s record capture, beating Nicolas Pepe’s £75m signing, or Man City’s second-most expensive signing after Grealish.

BBC Sport’s Simon Stone said: “Arsenal, clearly, are in pole position. It is felt most of the negotiation around the transfer from a player perspective is done.

“Man City’s interest is real though, even if, with Rodri, Mateo Kovacic and Kalvin Phillips, they are not exactly short of central midfield options, despite the departure of Ilkay Gundogan for Barcelona. It would be easy, for instance, to see David Moyes being interested in Phillips, even though the England man says he is committed to City.

“Arsenal’s problem is this; they can feel confident in their position, continue to chip away at West Ham and hope eventually, the answer is ‘yes’. But that comes with risk. What if Pep Guardiola makes a persuasive pitch? Would Rice really turn down the Treble winners, who have the ability to pay more than Arsenal because they generate more income?

“It is easy to dismiss the current situation as [West Ham] owner David Sullivan trying to drive up the price of a player he knows is leaving. However, for Arsenal, the stakes are high – and they need to get their reaction right.”

Losing Rice to their title rivals would clearly be a big blow for the Gunners, but why is he in such demand and where would he fit best?

  • FRSC recovers 28 stolen vehicles in Kaduna, sensitises drivers on safety

FRSC recovers 28 stolen vehicles in Kaduna, sensitises drivers on safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, said it recovered 28 stolen cars, adding that it returned them back to the owners in the state.

Mr Zubairu Mato, FRSC Sector Commander, Kaduna Sector Command, said this on Saturday at a Sensitisation and Enlightenment Campaign for drivers ahead of Eid-el-Kabir festivity in the state.

He said that FRSC would begin enforcement of the vehicles proof of ownership to ensure that drivers are original owners of their vehicles.

Mato said that the rise in the spate of car theft, made the FRSC conceive the idea of registering proof of ownership when renewing vehicle particulars.

According to him, motorists should ensure proper registration of their vehicles once the National Vehicle Identification Scheme commences.

“This will enable us recover stolen vehicles more, one cannot register a stolen vehicle somewhere, he or she will definitely be caught.”

Mato said that the rate of road traffic crash had decreased in the state, adding  about 300 people died in crashes from January to date, which the figure was a decrease if compared to previous years.

He attributed the crashes to over speeding and neglect of road signs, urging drivers to drive carefully as some parts of the roads were still under construction.

The sector commander said that the sensitisation campaign especially for commercial drives ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festivity was to minimise the occurrence of road crashes.

According to him, commercial drivers especially during festivities engage in overspeeding to meet up time for their targets.

Mato urged the drivers to avoid overspeeding and loading, wrongful overtaking, driving during heavy rain and ensure their vehicles are in good condition.

He also urged them to install speed-limiting devices, while also not neglecting the importance of seat belts.

Earlier, the FRSC  Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, said that during festivities, the corps intensified sensitisation and enlightenment on measures of safety while on the road.

Biu, represented by Deputy Corps Commander, Abdulrahman Bima, tasked drivers on responsible driving while ensuring that their vehicles are in good condition.

Also, Mustapha Babayaro, the Station Manager, Kaduna Line, Unguan Sarki Bus Terminal, said the sensitisation was timely as the Eid-el-Kabir festival approaches.

He lamented that most drivers during festive period were always in haste, trying to make more trips to meet their financial target.

Babayaro cautioned the drivers on such attitude, while urging them to ensure adherance to road safety rules and regulations.

Present  at the sensitisation campaign which took in Kaduna State Transport Authority Garage in Unguan Sarki were National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTELEA) and other transport unions.
