Barau: Legislature not subservient to executive

Deputy Senate President Barau Jubrin has dismissed the insinuations in certain quarters that National Assembly members are subservient to the executive.

Jubrin said the harmonious relationship between the executive and the legislature arose from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s antecedents as a former governor and senator.

The Deputy Senate President said this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, while delivering the 15th convocation lecture of Al-Hikmah University, titled: Managing Executive-Legislative Relations Towards Democratic Consolidation in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

He said: “As we speak, there is a wonderful collaboration between the executive and the legislative arms of government. The reason is that the President is a senator. He understands the game very well. He interacts with the lawmakers very well.

“Whenever he wants to present any Bill to the National Assembly, he normally meets with the executive members to discuss about the Bill before it is brought for debate. We would correct the mistakes, if there are any. That is why the Bills get accelerated passage.

“That is why we have the atmosphere of good collaboration with President Tinubu. People see it as a rubber stamp of the executive.

“When peace can give the nation what it wants, why engage in a fight? At the beginning of this Fourth Republic, there was a lack of harmony between the legislature and the executive because of the psyche of Nigerians occasioned by prolonged military rule.

“The then-President thought he should have maximum powers. He was not relating to us the way the current President is relating. I was at the House of Representatives then. I can see the difference. It was like an order then.

“President Tinubu knows the game very well. This collaboration is very essential for us to have a smooth running of the government.”

“But some people construe the collaboration as being subservient to the executive. It is because we interact on a continuous basis.”

The Deputy Senate President added: “Nigeria’s Fourth Republic has endured longer than any previous democratic experiment in our history. This endurance, however, must be matched with qualitative democratic deepening. Managing Executive–Legislature relations with wisdom, restraint, and constitutional fidelity is central to this task.

“As graduands of Al-Hikma University step into society, I urge you to uphold democratic values, demand accountable governance, and contribute intellectually and ethically to Nigeria’s democratic consolidation. Democracy is not sustained by institutions alone but by enlightened citizens and principled leaders.”

First Lady gives kudos to women leaders for backing RHI

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has expressed gratitude to women leaders across the country for supporting the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and the broader goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Mrs. Tinubu’s gratitude to women leaders comes as Nigerians savour the new year.

In a message of appreciation yesterday in Abuja, the First Lady acknowledged the contributions of the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, governors’ wives, who are also RHI state coordinators, wives of National Assembly members, ministers, service chiefs, and other women leaders nationwide.

Mrs. Tinubu said the compassion, dedication and readiness to act, as demonstrated by the women leaders, had strengthened the collective efforts to deliver on President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in empowering Nigerians and supporting the most vulnerable, irrespective of their backgrounds or status.

“Your compassion, dedication, and readiness to act have strengthened our collective efforts in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda mandate of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” she said.

The First Lady noted that the sustained partnership and commitment of women leaders across the country had been central to the work of the Renewed Hope Initiative, which focuses on social welfare, inclusion and support for disadvantaged groups.

The First Lady said she looked forward to continued support and partnership this year and beyond, as the RHI expands its programmes and impact across the country.

She also extended goodwill to Nigerians for prospects in the new year, wishing them peace, productivity, and prosperity.

“I wish us all a peaceful, productive, impactful and prosperous 2026,” Mrs. Tinubu added.

    • Lawmaker to Wike: stop pulling down those who assisted you

The lawmaker representing Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Action People’s Party (APP).

Hundreds of APP supporters yesterday converged on St. Peter’s Catholic Church playground in Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, to welcome Ugochinyere.

The lawmaker said he left the PDP because of a protracted court case and irreconcilable differences with the party’s national leadership.

“Those who have been following the story will know that when we set out to contest the election in the House of Representatives under the PDP, we started facing problems from the day we declared our intention to run. Few weeks before the primary election, they disqualified us from participating in the election. We went to court and got our victory, and we got back to the ballot,” he said.

“During the three-man delegate congress, they ran away with the delegates’ list. We got a court order to restrain them until they returned with the original list. We went to the primary and won. We went to the High Court and then to the Supreme Court, and we got a judgment in our favour. The journey has been very tough, filled with so much pain, just because the people want us and because we refused to bow to individuals who want to equate themselves to institutions.

“We faced assassination attempts, false allegations of murder, rape, terrorism, arson, kidnapping, and over 28 trumped-up charges filed against us from Owerri. That is why we are working with our friends in the congress to ensure that those behind these iniquities in Imo are captured and tried…

“When we thought all these things were over, our former party concocted an expulsion against us, and from those documents they forged against us from Port Harcourt, they went to the High Court to file a case against us to remove us from Parliament.”

“Now that we have survived these ordeals in the last three to four years, I find it very insulting, as the only PDP lawmaker in Imo State, that the party does nothing while they wash their dirty linen in Port Harcourt. Our party never supported us, not even with a statement. Our billboards were pulled down, and our members were arrested for no reason.

“So, because of all these, we have resolved to find a way out of these problems. We have decided to start from a new beginning, where we can build a new political structure where hard work is rewarded with electoral victory, instead of joining already established parties.

“It is on that path, and because of the irreconcilable differences with the national leadership of the PDP, which are practically impossible for any progress, that I have decided to voluntarily depart from the party.”

Ugochinyere warned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to stop pulling down the party that made him what he is today.

“You are going politically crazy. Look at your children as they grow up. What legacy do you want to leave behind? Who wronged you? The PDP helped you become a local government chairman, Chief of Staff, governor, and minister. You contested a primary for a presidential candidate.

Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal formed an alliance with (former Vice President) Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, realising you are more dangerous, which you have now proved,” he said.

The lawmaker noted that the former Rivers State governor had issues with those who had helped him achieve greatness through politics.

“Senator Azutam Mbata, who dusted you; you have an issue with him. You have issues with (former Rivers State Governor)  Peter Odili and his wife, who gave you your first step; Rotimi Amaechi, Andy Uba, (former President) Goodluck Jonathan, Ali Modu Sheriff, Uche Secondus, Emeka Ihedioha, current Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and you will have issues with President Tinubu and his family when you are no longer a minister.”

He thanked President Tinubu for releasing money in the budget for the completion of ongoing projects in his consistency.

2027: Rainbow Coalition will fill all elective positions in Rivers, says Wike

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike yesterday gave an insight into those who will be voted into political offices next year.

He said that candidates supported by his Rainbow Coalition, drawn from different political parties in the state, will win all elective positions in 2027.

Wike dropped the hint during his “thank you” visit to Asari Toru Local Government Area of the state.

The Rainbow Coalition is under the Renewed Hope Family, initiated by Wike to galvanise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state.

The initiative, Wike said, collapsed all political party allegiance under one roof of the Renewed Hope Family in Rivers State.

The FCT minister reiterated that Rivers politicians have moved beyond party politics to unite for the interest of all, under the Renewed Hope Family.

He said: “After President Tinubu, the Rainbow Coalition will produce every elective position in Rivers State in 2027. So, if you don’t sincerely belong to this rainbow family, forget it.”

Wike, who outlined some of the benefits the Rivers people have been enjoying for supporting President Tinubu in 2023, assured them that “this year will be better than last year”.

He thanked the people for standing firm on their decision to support President Tinubu for the progress of the state.

The FCT minister also praised the community leaders for their support and loyalty, adding that the risk they took in 2023 was now yielding positive results.

“Continue on this track and you will continue to reap good results. I assure you that I will stand with you at the appropriate time,” Wike said.

Council Chairman Onengiyeofori George thanked Wike for all he had done for his local government, assuring him that the people were united under his renewed hope family.

Chief Michael West, representing Asari Toru Constituency II in the House of Assembly, hailed Wike for galvanising support for President Tinubu.

Describing the minister as a “good leader”, the lawmaker praised the minister for making an Ijaw man a governor in the state, the first since the return of democracy in the country.

West pledged the continued support of the people, stressing they would follow him wherever he goes.

  • INEC: why LP can’t participate in FCT Area Council polls

INEC: why LP can’t participate in FCT Area Council polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained why it refused to give access code to the Labour Party (LP) to upload its list of candidates for the February 21 FCT Area Council elections.

The election umpire alluded to a Supreme Court judgment as the reason for taking the action.

The Supreme Court had, in its April 4, 2025 judgement, held that the tenure of the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) has expired.

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, explained the commission’s position in a statement yesterday in Abuja.

The director stated that the commission respected the judgment of the Supreme Court and would always abide by any valid order of the apex court and other courts of the land.

She said despite the Supreme Court judgement, the Abure leadership instituted several cases against INEC in various courts, demanding access code to upload the list of the party’s candidates.

Mrs. Eta-Messi stressed that there was no valid court order for the commission to act upon.

The statement reads: “On Monday, January 5, 2026, some supporters of the Labour Party protested at the INEC headquarters, Abuja, complaining about the exclusion of their candidates for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council election scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and demanded for the issuance of access code to upload its candidates for the election.

“In response, the commission wishes to state that the Labour Party has been enmeshed in prolonged internal leadership disputes since 2024, which culminated in the judgment of the Supreme Court in Appeal Number SC/CV/56/2025 (Usman v. Labour Party) delivered on April 4, 2025.

“In that decision, the apex court unequivocally held that the tenure of the Julius Abure-led National Executive Committee had expired. Despite this clear pronouncement, the Abure-led faction purportedly conducted primaries for the August 16, 2025, bye-election nationwide and the FCT Area Council election.

“It is also pertinent to recall that the Abure-led faction instituted Suit Number FHC/ABJ/1523/2025 – Labour Party v. INEC at the Federal High Court, Abuja, challenging the decision of INEC excluding it from participating in the bye-election.

“Judgment was delivered on August 15, 2025, dismissing the suit and enforcing the Supreme Court’s position that Julius Abure was no longer recognised as the National Chairman of the Labour Party and thus upholding the decision of INEC to exclude the Labour Party from the bye-election.

“Thereafter, the Labour Party filed multiple suits against INEC in different courts, all seeking orders compelling INEC to grant an access code for the upload of its candidates for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Election scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

“These suits include Suit Number NSD/LF.84/2024 before the Nasarawa State High Court, Akwanga Division. When the matter at the Nasarawa State High Court got stalled, the Labour Party approached the Federal High Court Abuja in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/2110/2025 seeking an Order compelling INEC to issue Access Codes to its candidates and the matter is still pending before the court.

“The Labour Party again approached the FCT High Court, Jabi Division in another fresh Suit Number CV/4792/2025 and filed a Motion seeking an order compelling INEC to issue Access Codes to its candidates for the FCT Area Council election.

“The matter was adjourned, after INEC had filed its reply, to January 15, 2026 for the hearing of the motion. One would have expected the Party to wait for the hearing of this motion, but the Labour Party filed another suit in Suit Number CV/4930/2025 before the FCT High Court, Life Camp Division, seeking the same relief to compel INEC to grant Access Codes to upload its candidates for the FCT Area Council election.

“By an order ex parte in this latest Suit Number CV/4930/2025, the FCT High Court sitting in Life Camp, Abuja granted an interim Order on December 16, 2025, directing the Commission to upload the names and particulars of the Labour Party candidates for the FCT Area Council election. The Court expressly stated that the Order would lapse after seven days unless extended.

“Upon being served with the originating processes, INEC promptly filed its defence, challenging the competence of the suit and the jurisdiction of the court. The interim order consequently lapsed on December 23, 2025 and was not extended. Accordingly, there is presently no subsisting court order for INEC to act upon.

“Given that the matter is sub judice, INEC will continue to respect the sanctity of the judicial process and await the final determination of the pending cases.

“The Commission reiterates its unwavering commitment to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, as well as its Regulations and Guidelines, and will continue to hold political parties accountable to democratic standards and the Rule of Law in the conduct of their internal affairs.”

Wike faults Fubara over termination of 10,000 jobs for Rivers youths

    • ‘Recruitment process flawed, against civil service rules’

In continuation of his visits to local government areas of Rivers State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has accused Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of cancelling an employment procedure that he (Wike) put in place to provide jobs for 10,000 youths across the state.

Wike alleged that upon resumption of office, Fubara cancelled what could have made the youths gainfully employed.

However, a government source has stated that the process for providing the jobs was flawed and contrary to civil service procedure.

The FCT minister spoke at Ahoada main town during the Renewed Hope Family ‘Thank you visit’ to Ahoada East Local Government Area.

Wike, who described Fubara as a “bad child”, knocked the governor for taking glory on projects that he (Wike) started in Ahoada and Emohua areas.

He faulted the governor for claiming that the construction of the Ahoada-Omoku and Emohua-Kalabari Road, which the minister said he had paid up to 70 per cent for before handing over, was completed.

“When I decided to dualise this Ahoada road, people thought it was impossible. But by the grace of God, today, Ahoada East, Ahoada town, is coming back to be the city it is supposed to be. I finished phase one of this dualisation.

Wike said: “Then I flagged off phase two, which would end up in Omoku. The job was given the same day as that of Emohua to the Kalabari area. I gave it to Julius Berger and we signed an agreement for Julius Berger to collect N4 billion every month from our IGR. The total amount of that road, and the one from Emohua to the Kalabari area, was about N80 billion. So, I said, if they collect N4 billion every month, that would give them N48 billion, and that in two years, they would have completed.

“Today, I hear people are making noise. They even forgot who laid the foundation for that road. I gave it to Setraco. I paid about 70 per cent (of the contract sum).

“I remember that day, they gave me 100 plots of land. I said, thank you, I don’t need land there. What is continuity?

“I employed Rivers State youths, 10,000 (of them). The person we handed over power to, instead of allowing the 10,000 youths, he cancelled the job for 10,000 youths. A bad child is a bad child.”

The FCT minister recalled that when he was the governor, Rivers was the envy of other states.

He expressed consternation that Fubara failed to continue what he (Wike) started in the state.

Wike added: “I handed over. See where I stopped. Please, make sure you continue with this programme that will make our state one of the respected in this country. When I was here, you know, Nigeria used to respect us. I don’t know what it is today. You will tell me. I didn’t make mistakes; we never made mistakes.”

The Chairman of South South Development Commission (SSDC) and Leader of the Renewed Hope Family in Ahoada, Chibudom Nwuche, praised Wike for the numerous projects he attracted to Ahoada.

The former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker gave the FCT minister a pat on the back for the sacrifice he made on the instructions to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and elect the Rivers State governor.

He stressed that Fubara was elected as governor based on instruction.

Nwuche noted that same way the state voted for President Tinubu as president, promising that Ahoada would always back the President.

He promised that resients of Rivers State would always exhibit their loyalty to Wike.

Nwuche said no governor had ever shown the level of commitment to the development of Ahoada as Wike has done.

The ex-Deputy Speaker described politics as local, urging those interfering in Rivers politics to steer clear.

He also urged the people of the state to concentrate on working for the re-election bid of President Tinubu in their states.

Nwuche said: “Therefore, wherever you go, we shall go there. And, may I offer some advice to some interlopers. Politics is local. Go to your states and show your strength. Leave Rivers State alone. Rivers State has its own peculiar politics, which we all understand.

“We are a political family. When a leader chooses one of us, we expect that the person should show gratitude and work with all the team. When you divide a team, that is not how to show gratitude.”

“So, please, those who are interfering, mind your business. Go and show your strength in your various states. Go and win your state for the President, if you can.”

Wike’s supporters cheered him and his entourage.

But a government source yesterday faulted the process for the employment of the 10,000 jobs for Rivers youths.

The source said the process was faulty and contravened civil service procedure.

The source, who is close to Governor Fubara, wondered why Wike failed to provide the jobs before leaving office.

He said: “He (Wike) was a governor for eight years but did not employ anybody into the civil service. Even after his first term, he still did not employ people. He should have done that at the beginning of his second term so he could manage the problems that would come from it.

“But he waited till the end of his administration before beginning the process.”

The source noted that the process of recruiting the 10,000 youths was filled with irregularities and against the civil service rules.

He said: “The process was filled with irregularities and sharp practices. It was designed to saturate the civil service with politically exposed individuals. The FCT minister should tell the public the names he penciled down for employment into the civil service.”

“Most of them were party chiefs and card-carrying members of political parties. In that process, local government chairmen were asked to send between 200 and 300 names for recruitment. All the known processes of recruitment were circumvented.

“It was designed to hire unqualified and incompetent persons into the service and to reward family members and cronies at the expense of qualified individuals.

“When most of them came, they couldn’t even express themselves. Just imagine what the civil service would have been if that process was allowed by the current administration.”

The source stressed that throughout the period of Wike’s administration, the then governor failed to promote civil servants, adding that the service was more politicised under him.

“There were no promotions and no employment under Wike as a governor,” he said.

According to him, Fubara had hinted that a fresh process of recruitment that would encourage professionalism would be established in line with the civil service rules for employment.

The source said it was not true that the governor failed to give credit to Wike for the projects he initiated while in office.

He said: “The governor has always given him credit for what he started. In the spirit of continuity, the governor had completed most of the projects.

“Others would have abandoned those projects and started new ones, but our governor has been initiating and completing his new projects while also finishing the ones started by his predecessors. People should not be dishing out half-truth because of politics.”

    • Deputy Speaker: Igbo must extend handshake to Southwest

House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu has continued to drum support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said supporting the President for a second term bid is in the best interest of the Igbo nation.

Kalu stated this while taking the President’s new year message to political leaders in Abia State.

The Deputy Speaker said the people of the Southeast must extend a hand of fellowship to their counterparts in the Southwest by voting wisely to enable them reap dividends of democracy.

He said the people of Abia State and Ndi Igbo in general need to invest in their political future by supporting President Tinubu.

Kalu said: “One of the messages I would like to pass to the people of Olokoro, to the people of Abia State, and to the Ndi Igbo is that it’s about time we started investing our votes not wasting our votes. So, this is Operation Invest Your Votes, Don’t Waste Your Votes.

Read Also:2027: Labour Party will end Senator Kalu’s re-election to Senate, says Gov. Otti

“It is about time the Igbo began to buy shares in our democracy so that we can ask for dividends. You buy shares in democracy through the numbers of your votes. The currency with which we purchase dividends in our democracy is called votes. The number of votes determines the number of dividends.

“Let us sow, so that we can reap. At the moment, the best fertile ground for us to sow, as we enter 2027, is the one that is within the southern political corridor. At the moment, what is in the southern political corridor is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We should not make the mistake of fighting ourselves. Let us have a handshake today so that tomorrow, they will return it.

“So, this is the message of the new year that I want us to take, because by the next new year, it will be late. Let us have that mindset. The clarion call now is: let us have a handshake with the Southwest so that when our own time comes, we will ask them to return the match. If we fail now, it will be difficult.”

“I know Ndi Igbo. The same strategy we have used in our businesses, in our trading, if we can adopt it in our politics, we will go far. I’m urging you, Ndi Olokoro, to stand with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man who rewards hard work and loyalty.”

During the visit to a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chukwudi Apugo, the Deputy Speaker asked him to formally join the APC.

Kalu said doing so would boost the support base of the party in the state.

“I want to use this opportunity as well. I know you are not politicking now because you are back to your business, to invite you to join me in my party, the APC. That is where your father is. He is one of the Board of Trustees (BoT) members, one of the founding fathers of APC.

“We can’t do it alone. So, I’m inviting you in this ancestral land and saying come, let us honour your father in APC. Come, let us change the narrative.

“We are inviting people. Those who listen to us will come. Those who will not listen will stay back. But the train has started moving. Like you said, only those who are wise must get there. Let us do this together,” he said.

A chieftain of the ruling APC in Abia State, Senator Chris Adighije, expressed his appreciation for the visit, pledging the support of Olokoro Umuahia clan for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to develop the country.

He said: “I am surprised. It really took me off guard. I’ve never been so taken before. Olokoro is made up of 17 autonomous communities; 16 of them are here. The overall President General of Olokoro is here.

“This message of goodwill from President Bola Tinubu has penetrated the entire Olokoro. By the way, Olokoro is one of the three clans that made up Umuahia South. Olokoro has four large electoral wards. Ubakala, which is the other clan, has three wards. God has made it possible for you to come and visit me.

“Last time, we got it wrong, and we should not repeat the same mistake. The only thing I will say to you is thank you very much. God will bless you and He will prolong your life.”

A former Abia State House of Assembly member, Chukwudi Apugo, applauded Kalu’s legislative efforts, saying the federal lawmaker has impacted the people of Abia State and Ndi Igbo, especially through the South East Development Commission Bill, which led to the establishment of the Commission.

He also pledged support for Kalu, encouraging him not to be deterred by any circumstances.

“You have done well as a person. You have done well. I’m not saying it because you are here. If you are not doing well, I will say it. You have empowered a lot of people. I watch you on television every day and I see what you do. Perhaps, we wouldn’t have benefited if you were not from Abia State. That is the truth. You are highly respected in Nigeria. You are among the Igbo speaking for the region. Don’t be deterred. Continue with your good works.

“You have changed the narratives in Abia’s political landscape by galvanizing old and new politicians, paying courtesy visits to them. That is the right thing to do. I want to assure you of my support anytime, any day. You are doing well. You have attracted appointments for our people. We will follow you because you are on the right track,” Apugo said.

Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has boasted that he will laugh at last in the ensuing defection crisis between him and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Yusuf, who was elected on the platform of Kwankwaso’s NNPP, has decided to migrate to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to improve on his development efforts in the state.

But Kwankwaso, an ex-governor of the state, has disapproved the move, insisting that the governor should relinquish his position if he must defect.

The disagreement between the two gladiators has polarised the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement – the umbrella body of all NNPP members in the country.

As the crack deepens in the NNPP, Kwankwaso, in a viral video, has urged his loyalists to engage in massive mobilisation of people from all nooks and crannies of Kano state to join the Movement.

Kwankwaso, who has reportedly opened a loyalty register, stated this while addressing visiting support groups from various local government areas of the state who are still loyal to the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

Urging his supporters to return to the grassroots and mobilise more people, Kwankwaso said: “This is the most important thing before you as some people are defecting.”

Kwankwaso, who is being speculated to be interested in joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), lamented that some people were mocking him and calling him a dying politician, citing the current gale of defections. He, however, assured his followers that he would laugh at last.

He said: “As leaders and representatives of the people, when you go back home, ensure you meet with our supporters and let them know what is before us.

“I have heard some people mocking at me, calling me a child in politics. I want to assure them that they will see the work of the child soon when the time comes.”

“We have so far received about 21 organisations from across the state and there are others that are going to join us soon. Therefore, you go back home and receive them.”

Also, Governor Yusuf, who feels defection is his political right based on consultation with the electorate and party stakeholders, has returned to the state, after his birthday celebration in Abuja, to formally register and obtain his APC membership card.

Before then, Yusuf will meet with the power bloc of the Kano chapter of the party, led by the immediate past governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, it was learnt.

Already, Ganduje has sent an official invite to Yusuf, assuring him of maximum cooperation.

January 12 has been fixed for the much-talked-about decamping ceremony – a strategic decision expected to strengthen the APC’s position while weakening the NNPP in Kano State and stripping it of its only governorship seat and potentially reducing its influence and viability as a national party, ahead of 2027 general election.
