    Pogba, De Gea, other prominent players out of Qatar 2022 World Cup

    It’s usually a dream for prominent and upcoming footballers to participate in the World Cup. In the next six day, the Qatar 2022 World Cup will take off.

    But some prominent players will miss out through injury, non-disqualification or non-selection.

    Here are some of them who will not be part of the competition:

    Sadio Mane – (Senegal / Bayern Munich) Injury.

    Senegal’s head coach, Aliou cisse was Sadio Mane in his 26-man squad despite a tendon injury. Aliou, has shaken the whole world with the inclusion of Mane in the 26- man squad of Senegalese that will be participating in Qatar.

    Mane world cup journey looked to be over after limping off in Bayern Munich’s 6 – 1 win over Wender Bremen on November 8. Bayern manager Julian Nagelsman said Mane ” took a knock to the head of his tibia. It’s always uncomfortable. He has to have an x-ray. I hope nothing is wrong.

    French newspaper L’Equipe previously claimed Mane’s injury was severe enough to rule him out of the World Cup as a result of a tendon injury that will keep him out for ‘several weeks. It’s not clear if he’ll be fit to start the opening match but it seems it’s a risk worth taking for the Senegal boss.

    Although the Senegalese superstar has posted on his official Instagram page that he is out of the tournament but his inclusion to the squad comes as a surprise.

    Roberto Firmino (Brazil/ Liverpool) Dropped.

    Brazil’s 26 man squad list didn’t favor the Liverpool starman, despite his stunning 6 goals in 12 matches this season Roberto didn’t make the list.

    Firmino was dropped for Gabriel Matellini. Brazil’s head coach has said he picked Matellini because of the major role he’s played for Arsenal this season for the Title campaign. Arsenal currently seat on top of the table with a 1-point lead against rival manchester city in the premier League.

    Paul Pogba (Juventus / France) Injury

    Paul Pogba has been ruled out of this year’s world cup title defense. the formal manchester united star has been ruled out due to a knee injury he picked while on Pre-season duty for the old ladies.

    Paul made a shocking return to Juventus earlier this year, he hasn’t played a single minute for Juve this season for the Italian Seria A, while it was thought he could recover in time for the world cup, he suffered a tight injury during his recovery, ruling him out of the World cup. This year has been a major blow for Pogba as he had fallen out of line with his elder brother who accused him of casting a spell on his France team-mate Kylian Mbape although the player has debunked the news and subjected the claim as false.

    Ngolo Kante (France / Chelsea) Injury

    Ngolo has been injury prone this season and succumbed to a hamstring injury issued early in the premier league in a 1-1 late draw against Tottenham this season. He has been out of action since mid-August. He hasn’t played a single minute for his Chelsea new boss Graham potter since appointed.

    Ngolo has been a major blow for his club side this season as his absence has made them struggle for form, Ngolo was ruled out of the world cup a few weeks before the tournament. The formal Leicester city star will not be active for France’s world cup title defenses too.

    Timo Werner (Leipzig / Germany) Injury

    Timo Werner Limped off in the 19th minute of Leipzig’s Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk on November 2. Timo injury has heartbroken the player’s heart as he was just recovering to his form. Timo Werner spent 2 seasons with England Giant Chelsea football Club but has struggled to be at his best. Although the German was among the key player of the champions league winner for the blues in Moscow in 2021 that wasn’t enough. The German struggled to get 11 goals in all competitions for the blues last season.

    Marco Reus (Dortmund / Germany) Injury

    Marco Reus picked a knock during his last outing for Dortmund, Marco Reus has been confirmed to be missed out on the tournament and wasn’t named in the Germany 26-man squad.

    Reus has been unfortunate with his injuries over the past years; it’s the second showpiece event that the Dortmund captain will miss through Injury. The German star didn’t participate at the Russia 2018 world cup tournament.

    Georgino Wijnaldum (Roma / Netherland) Injury

    The defensive midfielder will be missing out on this year’s tournament just like his team counterpart Paulo Dybala. EX Liverpool and PSG player Wijnaldum opted for Roma in other for him to revive his club career after falling out of team selection under Mario Pochettino. Winni suffered a broken leg just 12 minutes into the season; he has been ruled out of this year tournament for The Dutch team.

    Diogo Jota (Portugal / Liverpool) Injury

    The Liverpool forward returned from a hamstring injury in early October and looks radiant, but the ex-Wolverhampton star suffered a calf injury against Manchester city in a 1-nil win for his team. Jota injuries are still a major blow for Portugal. They have named their squad for the tournament which he hasn’t been included in.

    Reece James (England / Chelsea) Injury

    Reece’s injury is a calamitous one for the England squad as he is one the potential starman at his position. The RWB picked up an injury while in action for his club against the wolves on October 8. James was in fine form before he suffered a knee injury. The England Starboy has been the subject of major dailies headlines as looking out if he will be fit for the tournament or not.

    The promising RWB had earlier promised that he is working hard to make he comes back before the tournament begins and he will be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad but it was confirmed after a series of operations that the young lad will miss the tournament and has been verified by himself on his Twitter official handle.

    Ben Chilwell (England/ Chelsea) Injury

    The England Starboy has also been ruled out of the tournament with a hamstring injury. He wasn’t named in England squad that will be participating in Qatar. Ben has been unfortunate with injuries limiting him to play a few matches for his club side too. Chilwell was among the 2021 squad that won the UEFA champions league for Chelsea. Ben Chilwell is out of the tournament also with Arsenal’s young star Emile Smith Rowe. Smith is out of the World cup with Groin Surgery picked on Sept 29.

    Kepa Arigbazalaga (Spain/ Chelsea) Injury

    The newly revived Blues keeper has been fantastic in life under new Chelsea head coach Graham Potter after falling out of favor under Thomas Tuchel with form issues. Praises song has been sung to Kepa by his new boss. Potter has said Kepa work rate has highly increased recently. This has created heat for his counterpart Mendy was the favorite under Tuchel.

    Kepa suffered a muscle tear in his foot, he has been left out of Spain 26 man squad by Enrique, the Spanish coach picked Premier League pair David Raya of Brentford and Robert Sanches of Brighton instead.

    David De Gea (Man-U / Spain) Dropped

    The Spanish football 25-man squad didn’t include David De Gea of Manchester united. Despite the Goalie’s superb CV, he fell off the squad that will be representing the Spanish Gaint. David has struggled for form this season and has been uncovered to too many Goals for his club side.

    Tammy Abraham (England / Roma) Dropped

    The Roma forward didn’t make Gareth Southgate 25- man squad to the tournament.

    The 25-year-old striker, who has netted 4 goals in 19 games in all competitions for Roma this season, scored for the first time since September in their Serie A clash against Sassuolo on Wednesday.

    Fikayo Tomori ( England/ Ac Millan ) Dropped

    Oluwafikayomi Tomori was vacated from Gareth Southgate’s squad for the tournament.

    Tomori, who helped AC Milan claim their first Serie A title in 11 years last season with several colossal performances, has continued to impress under Stefano Poli in recent weeks.

    But it looks like the former Chelsea center-back hasn’t done enough to earn a place in England’s final squad this winter.

    The Athletic report that despite a series of injury concerns at the back, Tomori has been left out – a decision that has already brought plenty of discussion among fans.

    Back in September, Tomori was awarded for his fine form an England call-up; it’s shocking that he wasn’t accommodated in the final 26-man squad.

    Sergio Ramos (Spain / PSG) Dropped

    Sergio Ramos’ exclusion from the Spanish 26-man squad comes as a surprise to everyone.

    The formal Real Madrid defender has fallen out of favour with Enrique and also missed the European Championships last year after an injury-plagued season. However, he has been a crucial component in PSG’s defence this season. His non Inclusion to this year squad appears that the 36-year-old might not play in another World Cup in his career.

    Veteran singer 2Baba’s “African Queen” Annie Idibia has declared she has become officially deaf to critics of her marriage.

    She turned a year older over the weekend and her hubby dedicated several post to celebrate her.

    But critics queried a certain post accusing the ace singer for being too simplistic in his message for his wife on her 38th birthday which many described as ‘unromantic’.

    In his latest post, 2Baba shared a video with his queen which sees them all over each other with his song “Officially Blind” playing as the soundtrack.

    Taking to the comment section, the reality TV star declared her love for her dearest hubby adding, her ears are forever blocked to naysayers of their union.

    “I’m officially Deaf to naysayers.. “MyMine”. Loveeeee u dear Mr Innocent Idibia,” she wrote.

    Iyabo Ojo reacts to Fayose brother’s allegation on poor restaurant service

    Popular actress Iyabo Ojo has reacted to claims by Isaac, younger brother of former Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose on the alleged dwindling service of her restaurant.

    Recently, a video captured Fayose complain about being served three bones for N7,000 for a plate pepper soup.

    He displayed the bowl of pepper soup, asking his fans if they’d pay the given amount for such a dish.

    He also claimed that he sent the video to his cousin, Toyin Lawani, and asked her to speak to her friend.

    He alleged their service was declining, claiming to have been a regular consumer for one year but had never experienced such.

    Fayose noted the movie star eventually called him and lashed at him, called him poor, accused him of chasing clout before ending the call abruptly.

    Reacting in an Instagram live video, Ojo stated ‘her hand was forced to reply’ basically for two reasons.

    “I really wanted to ignore this but I noticed a lot of people have been tagging me regarding the video Isaac Fayose made about my restaurant. I just want to clear the air for two reasons. One, for my darling customers and two, for those (my fans) who feel I need to address it,” the mother of two began.

    She accused Fayose of attempting to ‘sabotage her business’ and ‘demanding compensation’ when he had already taken his pound of flesh.

    Ojo explained after Toyin Lawani sent the video made by Fayose of his pepper soup that was delivered to him from her restaurant, she called her manager and supervisor to reach out and apologise to him, ensuring they also get his details for a refund or ask him if he’d like a complimentary dish.

    She claimed while all that was ongoing, several persons sent her same video via Whatsapp and told her Fayose shared it on his status.

    According to Ojo, she became enraged that he still wanted their complimentary package and an apology after taking his pound of flesh by sharing the video on his Whatsapp status for all his contacts to see.

    She accused him of attempting to ruin her business wondering why he shared the video when plans were already ongoing to redress the situation.

    It is imperative to address the technological challenges of nurses and nursing in Nigeria to provide insights into the digitalisation pathway of nurses, especially in academics and practice.

    CEO of MyCare Assistant Ltd, Mrs. Abiola Ayilara, stated this while announcing activities lined up for its annual summit tagged: “Nurse digital transformation 2.0” with the theme: “From awareness to action.”

    The summit is billed for Wednesday, November 16 in Lagos.

    Ayilara stated that Nurse Digital Transformation(NDT) is a platform that promotes nursing development in education and practice. She added that it was borne out of the need to create awareness and address technological challenges of nurses and nursing in the country.

    “Nursing education, practice and development are continuously evolving. The need to meet up with the world standard of care is based on the premise that nursing education, practice and development is at the forefront of all healthcare-related improvement works.

    “The NDT has partnered with educational technology companies to offer free training on data incubation, accelerator programs and global opportunities for nursing seeking nursing informatics education.

    “Interestingly, In developed countries such as the United Kingdom, Asia or the United States, nursing informatics is actively gaining recognition with nurses holding positions of Chief Nursing officers, digital champions in clinical settings, decision-makers in patient outcomes based on technological solutions of the patient problems,” she said.

    Ayilara said feedback from the previous NDT 1.0 Virtual Bootcamp which had over 200 nurses in attendance revealed that 69 percent of the participants lack awareness of opportunities existing in nursing technological advancement.

    She said 21 percent of participants are aware but due to a lack of resources and knowledge of the use of computer systems for data management, there is still a need to intentionally provide opportunities for nurses to harness digitalisation in their study.

    Ayilara, however, said 10 percent of the participants got scholarships to study healthcare technological-related courses in the UK and the USA.

    “The opportunities that healthcare professionals can tap into include, e-health rostering, software management, remote patient care support services, data analytics and many more,” she said.

    Street hop artiste, Portable has berated Port Harcourt clubber(s) for spraying him counterfeit N1,000 notes.

    The self-styled ‘wahala’ singer shared a video that captures several N1000 notes on the bed of his hotel room right after a performance.

    As his team members sorted the money, Portable could be heard saying ‘Omo, wahala don happen o! Dem don spray doree. This is fake money. This is fake money mehn! Dem don spray doree. Iya yin (your mothers). Port Harcourt e ni sho ri re (it wil not be well with Port Harcourt).’

    But a team member corrected him that Port Harcourt wasn’t responsible for spraying him the fake notes but rather a Niger man.

    And he screamed, ‘Na Niger man abi? Buhari people?! Ogun kill am!’

    The “Zazu” crooner then instructed his team to tear the fake notes as captured in the video.

    Isaac, younger brother of former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, has called out actress, Iyabo Ojo, for insulting him after he complained about being served three bones for N7,000 pepper soup.

    In a now-deleted video which was shared on his Instagram page, Fayose narrated his spat with the popular movie star.

    According to him, he bought pepper soup worth N7,000 from the actress’ restaurant at Lekki but was served three bones.

    He explained that he has been a regular customer of her restaurant for the past one year but wasn’t satisfied with this particular service.

    He called his cousin, Toyin Lawani to speak to her friend about the situation, noting their services was declining.

    But to his chagrin, Fayose stated Ojo called to blast him, insulting him that he was poor and was only looking for cheap popularity reason why he’d make a video of the bowl of pepper soup in the first place.

    He said: “I bought pepper soup from Iyabo Ojo in Lekki 1 and they gave me three bones and I complained. Iyabo Ojo started abusing me. She called me to abuse.

    “She said I’m looking for cheap popularity. That if I’m not looking for cheap popularity, why will I do that. Because I did a video and I sent to my cousin Toyin Lawani. That advise your friend that the service is going down.

    “I’ve been buying food from Iyabo Ojo’s place for the past one year, I have all my receipts here.

    “Iyabo called me and started saying all sorts to me that I’m poor, that’s why I’m asking for the next round. And she banged the phone on me.

    “My people, watch this video see 7k pepper soup and tell me; will you buy it?”

    Then he proceeded to share a video showing the bowl of three bones in form of 7k pepper soup while reiterating the dish was way too poor for the amount; reinforcing his stance that their service has really dwindled.

     

    However, in a more recent video, Fayose apologised to Ojo for prompting in her the ‘feeling that he was trying to mess up her business’.

    He reiterated that he has been her customer for one year and ‘had never complained’ while he recounted the incident all over again.

    Fayose adopted Davido’s motto ‘we rise by lifting others’ in his caption while urging Ojo to let things slide but added, “Please I am still patiently waiting for my sorry”.

    Israel Adesanya has promised to bounce back after losing to Alex Pereira at the UFC 281, Madison Square Garden, New York.

    The 33-year-old was technically knocked out by Pereira in the fifth round to become the new UFC middleweight champion ending Adesanya’s reign atop the division on Sunday morning.

    Adesanya fought a near-perfect fight. He had Pereira out on his feet at the end of Round 1, but the Brazilian returned the favour in Round 5 to snatch it.

    Adesanya was seeking revenge after losing two fights to Pereira in kickboxing back in 2016 and 2017.

    Bandits demand N10m to release victim’s corpse after N3m ransom

    After collecting N3 million as ransom, bandits are demanding additional N10 million to release the corpse of Obadiah Ibrahim, a victim kidnapped some weeks ago, the family has revealed.

    The deceased brother, Kefas Obadiah, said his brother died on Monday but his death was announced to family on Thursday.

    According to him, the bandits refused to release his brother after they collected N3m ransom.

    According to him: “He was kidnapped in early October first week in Sabon Gaya on his way back from Abuja to Kaduna.

    “Although I was not the one communicating with the bandits, there was a negotiator. Earlier the bandits demanded N200 million and later settled for N3 million plus.

    “They said we should bring the money. After giving them the ransom they told us the money was for their foodstuff which got finished, and that we should go and bring N15 million.

    “They later came down to N5 million and three motorbikes and later collected one bike. After collecting a bike we didn’t hear from them again. We try to communicate with them but unfortunately, we were unable.

    “Then on Thursday when the negotiator called them, they said our brother was dead. We thought they were joking. When we continued, they threatened to track him and come for him if did not stop calling their line.

    “They said their own men were arrested by police, tied to a tree and killed. So they vented their anger on our brother because of what the police did to their brother.”

    He added: “Ibrahim had died on Monday and they informed us on Thursday. We asked for his corpse and they said we should pay them N10m if we want his corpse they’ll not work for us free of charge..

    ”That “Allah”, meaning, to God who made them, if we bring the money they’ll release the corpse in three days.”

    Troops clear camps, neutralise two terrorists in Kaduna

    Troops of the Army at Kankomi, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State have repelled an attack by dozens of bandits and neutralised two of the attackers while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

    However, corpses of three villagers suspected to have been killed by the fleeing bandits were later recovered by the troops.

    Kaduna Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday.

    He said the government was informed of the development in feedback which captured the bravery exhibited by the troops in overpowering the bandits.

    According to Aruwan: “The attackers made an attempt to infiltrate the location housing the troops. The vigilant troops in response engaged them in a fierce gun duel which lasted for over an hour. This resulted in the elimination of one of the terrorists, who was wearing military camouflage combat gear as can be seen in the attached photo. Others escaped with bullet wounds as evidenced by bloodstains along their withdrawal route.

    “The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, seven AK47 magazines, seven rounds of ammunition and five locally made grenades from the bandits.

    “Sadly, while exploiting the withdrawal route of the bandits, three corpses were found by the troops, apparently locals killed by the fleeing bandits.

    “In another development, troops of Operation Forest Sanity conducted clearance patrols along the Gwagwada-Chikun-Sarkin Pawa axis, stretching from Chikun LGA to nearby interstate boundary areas.

    “According to the report, contact was made with terrorists on a high ground ahead of Kafaiyo. One terrorist was neutralized, and an AK-47 rifle recovered.

    “Furthermore, two terrorists fled on sighting the troops, leaving behind their motorcycles which were recovered.

    “The troops completely dislodged several terrorists’ camps around Kafaiyo, Dafako, Kopi and Gadani.”
