    Owo terror attack: May Nigeria not happen to us – RMD

    Veteran actor RMD has commiserated with victims and families of the gruesome attack on worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, which left scores dead.

    Mourning the bereaved, the former Delta Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, stated the insecurity exposes how fragile the citizens are considering the spate of attacks.

    He described the attack as a terrible incident that has left the people heartbroken and devastated.

    Sharing a photo of one who is shaken and forlorn as he looks peeps through a slightly opened curtain with same colors of the Nigerian flag, RMD wrote: “Our sanity is once again tested in our motherland. The terrible incident that happened in Owo, Ondo state has left us heartbroken and devastated.

    EFCC arrests 92 internet fraud suspects in Rivers

    Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) have arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters (aka Yahoo Boys) in a sting operations at various locations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

    EFCC, in a statement on Friday by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspects were arrested for alleged internet fraud activities at Choba and Ada George axis of Port Harcourt, following an intelligence report.

    The statement said the analyses of the devices recovered from the suspects established that 64 of them had incriminating items in their phones and emails.

    The commission said the indicted suspects would be charged to court after investigations.

    Yul insisted meeting Judy Austin dispelled the old cliché as he became fully convinced that a man could actually love two women at the same time especially as he couldn’t resist the urge of keeping her after making a lot of impact in his life.

    He continued: “At this point in my life, at this stage, I think it’s possible for a man to actually love two women. For me I think it’s possible because two women can be in your life and then they bring two different things to the table.

    “They reason in different ways they contribute differently to your life. And you just realize that that just the way it is.

    “Someone comes into your life and the person makes so much impact in your life and you just don’t want to let this person go or you just can’t let this person go.

    He further praised his two wives, describing them as “very wonderful women” in their own respective rights, who bring different things to the table.

    The father of five said: “I know a lot of you would say as a married man, why would you allow another woman to come into your life and all that? Yes, you can say it’s wrong. It’s wrong, I take the blame for that. You can say it’s wrong. But let’s be honest, these things happen. It happened to me and then I realised that I just couldn’t let this wonderful woman leave my life.

    “Make no mistakes about it, these are very wonderful women in their own respective rights. They bring different things to the table. Yes, you can actually love two women at the same time.

    “I thought it was not possible but now I know it’s possible. You can actually love two women because two women can be in your life for two different reasons and they bring different things to the table.

    “And then you realise than this person is important in your life and this other person is important in your life and you just can’t let any one of them go.

    “That’s just the tip of it. I have many more reasons but for now, this is one of them. This is actually the main one. I may decide to bring out more but this is it; a man can actually love two women.

    “Someone can come into your life. Yes, you may say the circumstances were wrong and all that. But these things happen. And then you realise you can’t just let this person go. This person has had a lot of impact in your life. You just don’t want this person to go and you try to see how you can make it all work. So, this is just a tip of it.

    Appreciated all and sundry for their concern since the news hit the public space, the 40-year-old actor added: “A big thank you to everyone who’s concerned about me, I’m fine. My family is good, we’re working out things.

    A support group in All Progressives Congress (APC), Northern Progressive Agenda (NPA), has called on the ruling party and President Muhammadu Buhari, to reciprocate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s past gestures by supporting him to be the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.

    The group also called on northern political elites, especially the Governors, lawmakers and delegates to the June 6 presidential primary to ensure that power does not only shift to the south but Tinubu is elected.

    Spokesperson for the group, Mr. Dominic Alancha, said 2023 should be a pay back time to appreciate the good gestures and sacrifices of Timubu to northern leaders.

    Addressing reporters in Abuja on Friday, Alancha listed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and President Muhammadu Buhari among others as northern political leaders that have benefited from political structures and support of Tinubu in the past.

    Justifying the call for power shift to the south, NPA said: “While the southern region boasts of many qualified and competent individuals fit for the office of the President, we are calling on the party to particularly narrow its search to the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose many contributions and sacrifices exemplified in the opportunities given to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mallam Nuhu, President Muhammadu Buhari and many more has benefited the north more than it has benefited his own region of the south and south west in particular.

    “We believe that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not just the best among the contending forces from the southern region, he is the only man with the requisite political experience, extensive network and the national appeal to win election for a political party like the All Progressives Congress, especially considering that Atiku, whom though is not a match for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is also a political heavyweight that has stayed long enough in the political arena to understand the game far better than any of the other contestants aside Bola Tinubu.

    “We must reiterate the fact that what the north needs at this time is not political power. If we have had it for many years without commensurate benefit to the average northerner, then it is only proper to explore another option.

    “The north needs an opportunity to improve on its economy, security, healthcare, education, industrial development and many more, so that it can compete favourably with the south and even rank better, especially considering the enormous advantage it has over the other.

    “We want to see a north where its huge population will be for economic advantage and not just for political purposes. We want to see a north where the vast landmass will be turned into agriculture fields that will birth industries and create jobs for the teeming youths. We want to see a north where students will not have to be given lower cut off mark before they can be admitted into schools.     FRSC urges Nigerians to embrace bicycle to reduce road crashes

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, has called on Nigerians to embrace the use of bicycle to reduce crashes and number of vehicles plying the roads.

    The state Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Joshua Adekanye, gave the advice during the celebration of 2022 World Bicycle Day in Ibadan on Friday.

    The celebration, in partnership with the Lapet Feats International and the Oyo State Sports Council, has as its theme; ”Cycling for Health and Humanity”.

    Adekanye said that bicycle, being a non-motorised means of transportation, has many other advantages which include non-emission of dangerous sustenance to the atmosphere, fitness of the body and cost effective.

    The sector commander said that most Nigerians despise those riding bicycle because they are unaware of its benefits to health and the society.

    He called on the Federal, State and Local Governments to create tracks for bicycle whenever they are constructing roads.

    According to him, most roads in Nigeria don’t have bicycle road tracks.

    “If we all embrace the idea of cycling, it will reduce the rate of fuel consumption, safe cost, reduce road crashes and keep fit,” he said.

    The General Manager, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde, said that the state is doing well in cycling as no fewer than seven professional cyclists represented Nigeria in international sports competition.

    Makinde called on parents to encourage their children in cycling to have more representatives from Nigeria in international sports.

    He noted that students could combine the sport with education.

    Also, the Chief Executive Officer, Lapet Feats International, Mr Olawale Samson, said that the organisation decided to organise the 25-km Ibadan Cycling Tour in order to promote cycling and other sporting events.

    Samson said that cycling promotes good health, longevity and fitness.
