    Yemi Alade reacts to rumoured pregnancy for Togolese President

    ‘Johnny’ crooner, Yemi Alade has finally reacted to rumours about being pregnant for President of Togo, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé Eyadéma

    Recently, a controversial blogger reported the songstress was allegedly expecting a child for the former Minister of Equipment, Mines, Posts and Telecommunications.

    The blogger also claimed Yemi Alade has been in a close relationship with the 56-year-old politician since 2017 adding he was planning on marrying the singer as his sixth wife.

    Reacting to the speculation, the 33-year-old ‘African Baddie’ singer tweeted laughing and pregnant emojis.

    In succeeding tweets, Yemi Alade bemoaned the height of insanity bedeviling people in January.

    “The ment is different this Jan. If you no like your job, abeg pretend small when you see costumers na. This January people dey really Ment.”

    159 Nigerians renounced citizenship in 2022- FG

    At least 159 Nigerians renounced their citizenship in 2022, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Interior Dr Shuaib Belgore has stated.

    Belgore disclosed this at the Presidential Villa, Abuja when he accompanied the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who was a guest on the weekly Ministerial Briefing, hosted by the Presidential Communication Team.

    According to Belgore, 150 Nigerians renounced their citizenship between 2006 to 2021.

    Aregbesola said the massive exodus of Nigerians in search of greener pastures is fueling high demands for passports.

    According to him, the Nigeria Immigration Service processed and issued at least 9.31 million passports from 2015 to 2022.

    He disclosed that in 2022, the Immigration Service issued the highest number of passport booklets totaling 1,899,683 in over seven years.

    The breakdown showed that in 2015, 2016 and 2017, the service processed and issued 941,995, 1,035,668 and 1,136,855 passports respectively.

    In 2018, 2019 and 2020, it processed 1,242,953 and 780,047 passports respectively. While 1,056,422 and 1,899,683 passports were processed and issued in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

    Popular media personality Denrele Edun has declared his sexuality is fruity.

    Fruity is a term used to describe someone who belongs to the LGBTQ+ community.

    The host of ‘The Honest Bunch” podcast, Nedu, and his colleagues had discussed the whole ‘fruity’ thing among male celebrities in a recent episode.

    Nedu claimed 90 percent of males in the entertainment industry were fruity.

    Making the task easier for the radio presenter, his team and all others concerned, the 41-year-old TV presenter announced he was gay, one who makes men go crazy.

    Adebule rallies non-indigenes, artisans, women, youths for APC

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos West senatorial candidate Dr Idiat Adebule has urged women and youths to vote en masse for all APC candidates in the forthcoming election.

    She spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting with non-indigenes, artisans, traders and youths in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government and Ifelodun Local Council Development Area.

    She promised to take the developmental programmes up from where the outgoing Senator Solomon Olamilekan stops.
    According to her, more empowerment programmes would be introduced for the women to make them self-sustained.

    She solicited their support for women politicians to excel, vowing to be a good representation of the womenfolk if elected.

    Adebule said there would be training for artisans on how to improve their skills and make more income.

    The former Lagos Deputy Governor promised to equip the youth with the necessary technical know-how to give them an advantage in the labour market.

    Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Adekunle Abdulfatai Ayoola urged those who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to do so.

    Ayoola appealed to the royal fathers to educate the youths on voting for the right candidates.

    He said the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all party’s candidates would deliver dividends of democracy to youths.

    Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Olufemi Okeowo described Adebule as the best woman to represent the district.

    He said her experience would be needed to move the district forward if elected.

    He called on the traders and artisans to mobilise their members to vote for her and other APC candidates.

    The Labour Party (LP) candidate for Ibadan Southwest/Northwest federal constituency, Hon. Sunday Oni has argued he remains the best candidate to represent the constituency considering his dedicated work and passion for the people.

    He noted that his success stories and impact on youths, especially people of his constituency can not be overemphasized.

    Speaking in Ibadan during a Gala Night for actualisation of his ambition, Oni said he has been giving his resources, skills and knowledge to help many people before going into politics, adding that he would continue to do so after leaving office as a lawmaker.

    According to him, going into politics would give him the platform to serve Nigerians on a larger scale and impact more on his constituents.

    He said:” I am going into politics to be an agent of change, to implement the change we want, our constitution has alot of loopholes that need to be worked on.

    “This can not be done as an individual. I plan to work with youths in the National Assembly so that we can implement more policies that favor the masses.

    “What belong to the people of my constituency will not be diverted to my political party because this has been the practice of previous politicians which has denied the real beneficiaries of their right and privileges in favor of party members.”

    He said if voted, he would focus on reviving the entertainment industry in Oyo State including sports entertainment.

    “I will push for a motion to establish and recognize sport academy for youths who seek a career in sports with certificates equivalent to B.S.c in all the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

    “I will push for more power to be given to royal Kings and chiefs like Baales, Mogajis and Obas to handle security issues in their localities, and also support bills for state Police.”

    “I plan to build a mini sports complex in my constituency, a modern health centre for pregnant women where they can safely deliver their babies for free and receive free health care.”

    Driver, motor boy bag 10 years for drug trafficking

    The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday sentenced a bus driver, Ifeanyi Okorie and his motor boy, Israel Nwachukwu to 10 years imprisonment each for drug trafficking.

    Justice Akintayo Aluko convicted Okorie, 39, and Nwachukwu, 23, following their plea of guilty to conspiracy and unlawful transportation of 564.55 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa also known as Marijuana.

    The duo was prosecuted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

    Prosecution counsel N. J. Mamza told the court that the men were arrested on December 11, 2022, at the 2nd Toll Gate, Opposite V.G.C. Estate, Lekki, Lagos, while illegally transporting the prohibited leaves.

    Following their plea, their lawyer, R. M. J Nyier, prayed the court to give them the option of a fine in place of a custodial sentence, saying they were first-time offenders who were also remorseful.

    Justice Aluko sentenced the convicts to 10 years imprisonment each.

    The judge also ordered each convict to perform two months of community service of one hour per day, anywhere in Eti-Osa Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State.

    They were also ordered to provide credible sureties to stand for them during the period of community service.

    The court also ordered each man to pay the sum of N1.5 million each as an option to the jail term.

    Justice Aluko also ordered the interim forfeiture of their green Volkswagen LT 45 bus with registration, chassis, and engine numbers: AKD 850 YE; WV22ZZ221ZRH009840; DVO14814 respectively.

    Kano woman dissolves marriage, weds daughter’s lover

    A woman in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State, Malama Khadija, has dissolved her marriage and wedded her daughter’s boyfriend.

    Khadija went ahead to marry her daughter Aisha’s former lover after she rejected ended their relationship.

    The woman’s relatives, reporting the matter to a local radio station, accused the Hisbah Commandant of Rano LGA of marrying off their child without their consent.

    However, Khadija speaking to the radio station, expressed satisfaction with her marriage, noting she’s and her new hubby have been living happily.

    She explained that she had to contact her new hubby’s family after her daughter decided not to marry him because she didn’t want both of them to lose him.

    And since her family bluntly refused to perform the marriage rites, Khadija noted she decided to approach Hisbah on the matter.

    “I didn’t do it with ignorance. I contacted clerics and they said it is not prohibited in Islam. When I contacted him (the new husband), he agreed, but my parents and relatives refused to do the marriage rites. That was why I decided to go to Hisbah and we are happily married now”, she said.

    But Khadija’s uncle, Abdullahi Musa Rano, said they refused to allow her carry out the ‘shameful act’ of marrying the man because she deliberately dissolved her first marriage just to be her daughter’s suitor.

    “She mounted pressure on her husband to divorce her just to marry the man. We can’t do this shameful thing in our family which was why we refused to join them in marriage. We are not happy with what Hisbah did and we want them to bring out our daughter. We want the general commandant and the state government to look into the matter”, he stated.

    When the Hisbah Commandant in Rano, Ustaz Nura Rano was contacted, he said only the State Command of the board had the right to speak on the issue.

    Kano Hisbah Commander General, Sheikh Harun Ibn-Sina, said an investigation into the matter was still ongoing.
