Egwuatu immortalised as 279th certified Global Tech Hero

Osita Victor Egwuatu has been immortalised as the 279th Certified Global Tech Hero, a recognition that cements a career defined by practical rigor, measurable impact, and a clear orientation toward enabling sustainable growth for organizations.

Trained in business and information systems and certified in agile practice, he occupies the intersection of product management, strategy, and growth, bringing a discipline to experimentation and decision-making that has reshaped how teams translate data into durable momentum.

His signature contribution is the Traction Evaluation and Optimization Tool, TEVOT, a decision-support system built to cleanse noisy growth signals, benchmark progress, and produce prioritized, evidence-backed roadmaps that leaders can act on immediately.

TEVOT is not an academic abstraction; within two years of adoption it has produced notable, auditable improvements for organizations, raising retention and activation substantially, increasing revenue and lifetime value markedly, reducing churn and acquisition costs, and delivering an overall composite uplift in effective traction that demonstrates both reliability and commercial consequence.

Beyond TEVOT, his co-creation of UFinMD, a purpose-built financial operations platform has addressed a widespread pain point: fragmented, hard-to-audit fiscal data. That platform consolidates dispersed financial records into an auditable dashboard, automates reconciliation, applies AI-driven anomaly detection and forecasting, and prepares export-ready tax and compliance packages for multi-jurisdictional businesses.

Its adoption by multiple organizations underscores a contribution that enhances governance and decision intelligence rather than pursuing novelty for its own sake. His work has been shared through expert commentary and academic publications, bridging practitioner needs and scholarly discourse, and reinforcing an ethic of transparency and reproducibility in product-led growth.

The Connected Awards celebrates this induction as a recognition of demonstrable influence with solutions that shorten time-to-impact, raise the success rate of experiments, and turn product experimentation into predictable value creation.

In praise of this achievement, the founder of The Connected Awards, Qazeem Oladejo, reflected on the significance of applying disciplined measurement to growth, noting that such work “turns intuition into accountable action and gives founders and operators a way to invest in what actually moves the needle.” That sentiment captures why this recognition matters, because it honors a professional who builds tools that leaders can trust to produce real results.

This certification marks a formal acknowledgment of a practice that has already changed outcomes for teams and organizations.

It recognises the combination of academic grounding, methodological clarity, and executional velocity that defines his work, and it celebrates a sustained contribution to how modern organizations discover, prioritize, and scale the interventions that create lasting traction.

Court warns INEC chair against disobeying order to recognise LP’s candidates for FCT polls

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has issued a warning to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, against ignoring its orders issued on December 16.

The court had directed INEC to grant the Labour Party (LP) an access code to enable it upload the names and particulars of its nominated candidates for the FCT area council election scheduled for February 2026.

The warning is contained in a document labeled “Form 48,” titled: “Notice of consequences of disobedience of order of this honourable court made of the 16th day of December 2025.”

Issued by the court’s Registrar on December 29, a copy of the notice was obtained in Abuja on Wednesday and addressed directly to the INEC Chairman.

Part of it reads, “Take notice that unless you obey the directions contained in this attached Court order to wit:

*An interim injunction is hereby granted directing the defendant (the commission) to grant access code to the claimant/applicant to upload the names and particulars of their nominated candidates for the FCT Area Council election scheduled to hold on February 2026 by the defendant (the commission) within 48 hours pending the hearing of the motion on notice.

*An interim injunction is hereby grant directing the defendant (the commission) to upload the names and particulars of the claimant/applicant’s nominated candidates for public scrutiny within 48 hours pending the hearing and determination of the motion notice.

*And take further notice that you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to Nigerian Correctional Center.”

Justice J. O. E. Adeyemi-Ajayi had issued the said orders on December 16 while ruling on an ex parte motion for interim injunctions filed by the LP after it was moved by its lawyer, Christian Elom and adjourned till January 27, 2026 for the hearing of the motion on notice.

The motion, marked: M/16037/2025 was filed by the LP along with the substantive suit, marked: FCT/HC/CV/4930/2025, which has INEC listed as the sole defendant/respondent.

The LP said, in a supporting affidavit, that it chose to approach the court after INEC allegedly failed to publish the names of its candidates for the February 2026 council elections as required, despite being duly notified.

The party stated, in its support affidavit, that it gave the notice of its primary elections to the defendant (INEC) within the time frame provided by the law

It added that after its primary elections, and within the 180 days provided by the law, it submitted the list of the candidates who emerged from the primaries it conducted and whom it proposes to support at the election, to INEC, in the prescribed forms.

The LP argued that INEC is duty-bound to, within seven days of receipt of the particulars of the candidates, publish the same in the constituency in which the candidates intend to contest the election.

The party added that the law mandates the defendant (INEC) to, at least 150 days before the day of the election, publish, by displaying at the relevant office or offices of the defendant, and on the defendant’s website, a statement of the full names and addresses of the candidates standing nominated by the claimant.

The LP accused INEC of allegedly failing to perform these statutory responsibilities.

  • I will reveal agreement reached with Fubara – Wike

I will reveal agreement reached with Fubara – Wike

    • …says we are battle ready for 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday disclosed that he will soon revealed the peace agreement reached between him and

Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers before President Bola Tinubu.

Wike stated this during a “Thank You Visit’ to Tai Local Government  Area of Rivers.

Tinubu had in June, brokered a peace deal between Wike and Fubara that ended the protracted political crisis in Rivers for peace to reign.

The minister accused Fubara of allegedly reneging the peace agreement saying; “very soon, we will let people know what we agreed on before Mr President.

He advised the people of Tai against dealing with people who cannot keep their promise in the name of politics, stressing that such people should not be trusted.

The minister, who said the Rivers people are battle ready for 2027 elections, warned that money will not determine the outcome of the election.

According to him, what matters more is the will of the people.

Wike explained that he was not in the community for politics but to thank the people of Tai for standing by him and President Bola Tinubu.

He said; “It was a tough battle in 2023. You took a risk, worked with us and God gave us victory.

“See what the risk had resulted too – a federal university sited in Tai and many other benefits”.

Earlier, Sen. Barry Npigi APC – Rivers South East thanked Tinubu and Wike for the support in the senatorial district saying, “the people never had it this good”.

Npigi assured Wike that the  people were available to do his bidding for the justice, equity and fairness that they see in Tinubu.

“I want to assure you on behalf of the people of Rivers South East, that we will continue to be with you,” he said.

Also, Mr Bernard Nbar, representing Tai Constituency in Rivers Assembly, equally assured Wike of the continued support of his constituents.

“You can count on the Tai people, because Tai people keep to their words,” Nbar said.

Chairman of Tai Local Government, Mbakpone Okpe, thanked Wike for the visit to interact with Tai people.

Okpe said that the minister’s directive to vote Tinubu in 2023 was a blessing following the good things that have continued to follow his people.

He said, “Our people have continued to benefit from appointments, infrastructure, empowerment and other dividends of democracy.

“For these reasons and more, we are eager to return Mr President for a second tenure. We will roll out all our votes for Tinubu and whoever you support.”

  • I’m not a terrorist, terrorism allegation shocking – Bala Mohammed

I’m not a terrorist, terrorism allegation shocking – Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday, denied any involvement in terrorism, calling claims linking him to terrorist activities “shocking and absurd.”

“I was shocked to hear that I have been accused of terrorism as a sitting governor. I am not a terrorist, I have nothing to do with terrorism, and I will never condone criminality of any kind,” the governor stated.

The governor made the remarks at the Executive Chambers of the Government House, Bauchi, while receiving an Award of Excellence as a Safety Ambassador from the Safety Institute of Nigeria.

Mohammed described the allegation as ironic given his longstanding efforts to promote peace, security, and community development in Bauchi State.

“I have been an ambassador of safety without even knowing it until today. This award belongs to the people of Bauchi State. Together, we worked for peace and security, and together we earned this recognition,” he said.

The governor also expressed concern over what he described as the unjust treatment of his Commissioner for Finance, currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling the situation part of a broader pattern of political persecution.

“Despite my constitutional immunity as a governor, my name was mentioned in a motion before a court of law, while my commissioner remains incarcerated. These are troubling developments in a democratic society,” he said.

Bala Mohammed lamented what he called the shrinking space for tolerance in Nigeria’s political environment, stressing that political differences should not be criminalised.

“Politics has become something else in this country. You don’t have to denigrate people or label them criminals simply because they belong to the opposition or refuse to join the ruling party,” he added.

He said he had deliberately remained quiet in the interest of peace and stability but warned that silence should not be mistaken for weakness.

“I have kept quiet for the sake of peace and security and for the common people, but I am not a coward,” the governor stated.

Bala Mohammed also criticised the Federal Government’s fiscal policies, particularly the implementation of the new tax law, which he said would further impoverish Nigerians and weaken state governments.

He maintained that Bauchi State remains one of the most peaceful states in the North due to inclusive governance and cooperation across party lines.

“We have APC, PDP and NNPP in Bauchi, and we are living together in peace. That is democracy. That is tolerance,” he said.

Earlier, a Life Member of the Safety Institute of Nigeria, Dr Haruna Malgwi, said the award was given after a thorough assessment of the governor’s safety policies and interventions across the state.

“This institute does not give awards lightly. His Excellency met all the criteria and deserved to be honoured as a Safety Ambassador,” Malgwi said.

  • DHQ: Sokoto airstrikes dislodge terrorists from target communities

DHQ: Sokoto airstrikes dislodge terrorists from target communities

    • …confirms presence of ISIS in North West
    • …warns vigilantes against unilateral operations
    • …operation error caused bomb drop in Offa

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said it has observed that terrorists dislodged in Sokoto, following the recent airstrikes, are now fleeing the target areas and infiltrating other communities.

“The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, revealed this while answering questions from journalists during the end-of-year media briefing at Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

Nigerian and the United States (US) military conducted midnight airstrikes on ISIS enclaves in Sokoto State on Christmas Eve, neutralising multiple foreign-linked terrorists, sparing innocent civilians and livestock.

The operation targeted the Lakurawa group, a Sahel-based terror cell described by U.S. officials as ISIS-linked fighters, which had established enclaves across border communities in Sokoto and Kebbi States.

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) and Nigerian authorities formally validated the success of the counter-terrorism operation.

However, five days after the operation, Nigeria’s military high command said intelligence had revealed that the terrorists were leaving the target areas in droves and moving into other communities.

General Onoja warned residents to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious movement or individuals to security agencies to enable swift action and the apprehension of the terrorists.

He said: “We continue to carry out operational planning to ensure that wherever they relocate, we are monitoring them. We are taking the necessary actions and communicating with all force commanders in the areas identified as threat zones, to prevent them from assimilating into communities and causing further havoc.

“As time goes on, you will hear about all the activities we are carrying out.”

The Defence spokesperson said the military had already begun mobilising the civilian population in the threat areas to be vigilant.

“We are mobilizing the civilian population to be vigilant and give information to the security agencies so that any issue of insecurity or any movement of all these terrorists, we can act fast on it,” he said.

Responding to a question about reports of locals possessing remnants of the bombs, the Defence spokesperson appealed to communities near the targeted areas to return any such remnants, in order to prevent further harm to themselves or their loved ones.

“We can only appeal to them to return all materials that we prove harmful to them,” he said.

“We don’t expect anybody to take away these materials. There are those whose duty it is to recover these materials.

“We also want the media to disseminate this information to them. They should return them to the military or security locations so that we can disarm these things before they cause greater damage to the individuals who are keeping them and to the other members of the public.”

Contrary to allegations that there was no presence of an ISIS-linked terror group in Sokoto and the North-West region of the country, General Onoja said military intelligence gathering had confirmed that the ISIS-linked group exists in the state.

The Defence spokesperson, who also showed journalists a classified video of the Nigeria–US airstrikes, emphasized that multiple intelligence reports had confirmed the existence of the group before the strikes were launched.

Onoja said: “You know, terrorists are ubiquitous and we cannot confine them to one location.

“Of course, there’s evidence to show that they’re in the Sahel. So, we can also take it further since the proximity of the Sahel to Sokoto. And intelligence reports have confirmed their presence there before those strikes were conducted against them.

“So yes, they were there, because those strikes were based on intelligence reports. They have confirmed their presence in those areas.

“The fact that it was not publicised is also sometimes for operational security reasons. So I can tell you that the intelligence that was given was correct.”

Responding to reports about the two objects believed to be explosives that landed in separate locations in Offa, Kwara State, on Thursday, the Defence spokesperson said even though it could be false, such occurrences could also not be ruled out during military operations

He said: “On the issue of the bomb that dropped in Ofa, yes, you know, these things happen. We cannot rule out mistakes—they could be human error—so it’s possible that the reports are false. Luckily, there were no casualties where it landed in Ofa, so we’re grateful for that.”

On a viral video showing vigilante members holding guns and claiming to assist the military in fighting criminals, the military spokesperson warned such groups against carrying out any operations without prior approval from the military or other security agencies.

He warned that the presence of unregistered vigilante groups is jeopardizing military operations.

“That is a concern that even we in the security sector always consider before approvals are given for such groups to be established. In doing so, we conduct a needs analysis to ensure there are adequate control measures in place to prevent them from going beyond their mandate. That’s why, most of the time, even during operations conducted by high-priority forces, they do not act alone.

“They operate in conjunction with either the military or other security agencies. So, I want us to be reassured that we are doing everything possible to manage them. We also urge the public to report any excesses they observe so these can be quickly addressed and prevented from escalating,” the Defence spokesperson said.

2027: I’ll prefer Tinubu over others – Kachikwu

    • …calls for a review of the new tax reform

The former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has reiterated his preference for President Bola Tinubu over any of “failed politicians” masquerading as opposition.

He reaffirmed this in a 7-page New Year message to mark 2026, released to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

The media entrepreneur who said he endorsed some of the president’s bold initiatives, expressed that if he would not have a shot at the highest office of the land in 2027, he would support Tinubu above other aspirants.

According to the former ADC standard bearer, “I have applauded some of the president’s bold initiatives and if I choose not to run for office, I will support him any day above the failed politicians masquerading as the opposition.”

He, however, appealed to President Tinubu to reconsider the new tax regime that takes off nationwide on January 1, 2026.

Kachikwu said his appeal was informed by the adverse effect the policy may likely have on the masses who are already finding it difficult to make ends meet.

The former presidential hopeful expressed fear that the tax reform would be counterproductive to the detriment of the livelihoods of ordinary Nigerians.

Admitting that the economic situation in the country as at  assumption of office in 2023 by President Tinubu was in comatose that required urgent and decisive surgery, he lamented that the new tax reform would denied the masses the benefits of the economic resuscitation policies of the government.

He expressed fear that instead of the masses, the privileged few would manipulate the policy to their advantage.

Counseling the president on the issue, Kachikwu said, “Our president must understand that the major beneficiaries of his policies are the legal robbers who instigate government policies that mostly benefit their companies to the detriment of most Nigerians. We understand the need for tax reforms, but an already overburdened populace can’t afford any more taxation.”
