Francoise Merus, an Haitian-American of Ghanaian descent may be in for a rough ride in the near future as some are beginning to view the BlackLove Page she founded as racist in perception and mission. But for the woman who is unapologetic about her roots, there is nothing wrong or untoward about what she’s described as a “lifetime’s mission”. To her, being black is a blessing and something to be celebrated every day and any backlash emanating thereof is welcomed with open hands.

“We are a platform for Black Love not mixed love. Our agenda is to promote the black family and to protect the black people. We are a platform for Black Love not mixed love. Our agenda is to promote the black family and to protect the black people. I would’ve called it mixed love page if I wanted to show interracial couples. We know that far too often things that are solely for black people at times get taken away from us, or other races start to be incorporated. My objective is to keep the focus on black people,” she had reacted to a query on why she’s not promoting interracial love but only black love

And as to the question on whether she may be perceived as racist in outlook, the Barry University, Florida graduate has her answer ready.

“Uplifting a group of people who have been oppressed for over 400 years cannot be racist. Rebuilding the views and narrative about the black family is not racist. Being exclusive to one group doesn’t negate the importance of another group. We are not against interracial dating. However, Black Love Page is exclusively for the uplifting of black people in love, marriage, and excellence. Black Love Page is a cultural and society website celebrating the advancement of Black People every single day. We will always support our people, she says.

Robinson also disclosed that NMA was making arrangements for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Rivers state capital and would require the support of the commission, while disclosing that items on the progamme for the AGM would include free health services for members of the public and a community outreach programme.
