2026 will be year of choices, mercy, divine turn around – Apostle Kure

The vision pioneer, Throne Room Trust Ministry Kafanchan, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, has declared that the year 2026 will be a defining season of choices, mercy and divine intervention, warning that those who fail to seek the mercy of God may face grave consequences.

The Apostle made the declaration during a crossover service and prophetic message held in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, which attracted prominent politicians, traditional rulers and worshippers from different walks of life.

Delivering the prophetic charge, Apostle Kure described 2026 as “a year of choices,” urging individuals, families and leaders to make deliberate and godly decisions that will shape their destinies.

He cautioned that the year “will swallow those who fail to seek mercy in the eyes of the Lord,” stressing the need for repentance, humility and total dependence on God.

According to him, 2026 will mark a season of fruitfulness, as God opens His “treasure house” to bring about visible change and transformation in the lives of the faithful.

Cross River Rep presents N48m gifts, unveils report

A member of the House of Representatives from the Boki–Ikom Federal Constituency in Cross River State, Victor Abang, has presented his mid-term report and given out yuletide gifts worth N48million to his people.

During town hall meetings and briefings, the lawmaker explained that the objective was to deepen transparency, promote accountability and enable constituents to assess his performance.

Outlining his record, he said the presentation was intended to counter misinformation, particularly on social media, by enabling the people to know the facts. He further said governance could differ from campaign promises.

Abang cited the expansion of telecoms coverage to rural communities, saying that 35 communities have been connected to masts, thereby improving communication and economic activities.

The lawmaker said he sponsored a motion on July 5, 2023, on the Nigeria–Cameroon boundary dispute affecting border communities in Cross River. He said the motion, which enjoyed support in the House, led to the constitution of an ad hoc committee and prompted the Federal Government to halt the demarcation that could have resulted in Nigeria losing more than 10,000 hectares of land to Cameroon, including parts of Biajua and Danare communities.

Abang explained that the exercise had disregarded colonial boundary markers such as Pillar 113A, warning that failure to intervene would have led to territorial losses.

In health, he said he facilitated the medical equipment worth over N300 million to the Primary Health Centre in Abo Ebam, and supported the Federal Medical Centre in the constituency.

The lawmaker also sponsored the National Park Service Amendment Bill, which seeks to establish the Okwangwo National Park Unit.

He said the initiative would boost conservation, generate employment and ensure that host communities benefit from eco-tourism.

Abang presented a compendium of his legislative and constituency activities titled: ‘The Banjuere’, detailing projects executed in his first two years in the National Assembly, including a mini-stadium, telecommunications expansion and health interventions.

He also distributed Christmas gifts worth N48 million to constituents, describing the gesture as part of his commitment to sharing democratic dividends and easing economic pressures during the yuletide.

Abang assured constituents that more bills, motions and constituency-focused projects were in the pipeline.

  • Tinubu’s tax policy must come with social amenities for citizens’ acceptance – Bishop

Tinubu’s tax policy must come with social amenities for citizens’ acceptance – Bishop

The Archbishop of the Anglican Communion, Kaduna Province, Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya, has criticised the Federal Government’s tax reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying taxation would remain unacceptable to Nigerians without the provision of basic social amenities.

Speaking in Kaduna as part of his New Year message to Nigerians, the cleric said while taxation is necessary for national development, it must not amount to exploitation of citizens who lack access to essential services.

“I am fully in support of taxation, but I am not in support of exploitation,” Archbishop Yahaya said. “Nigerians will willingly pay taxes when they can see light, water, good hospitals, decent schools for their children, and roads that are completed on time.”

He lamented the slow pace of infrastructure development in the country, noting that projects meant to be completed within months often take decades. According to him, this has eroded public trust in governance and made citizens skeptical about tax policies.

The archbishop stressed that Nigerians need a national reorientation, urging citizens and leaders alike to have a “change of heart” in their attitudes toward leadership, civic responsibility, and national development.

“If you look at the way we drive, how we treat our environment, how our leaders govern, and the state of the economy, you will know that we need a change of heart as a nation,” he said.

Yahaya also expressed concern over the nation’s power challenges, describing repeated national grid collapses as embarrassing, especially when foreign visitors are present.

He said Nigeria has abundant solar energy resources and questioned why reliable electricity remains elusive.

“Power is not magic; power is a reality,” he said. “Why are we running away from what we can do?”

On security, the cleric called for urgent reforms and improved civility among security agencies, noting that their uniforms, equipment, and salaries are funded by taxpayers who are often harassed on the roads.

He also decried poor construction practices, citing the Kaduna–Abuja road where commuters sometimes spend up to eight hours due to lack of alternative routes.

He said such delays waste productive hours and harm the economy, adding that international best practices must be adopted.

Reacting to criticisms against the presence of foreign military support, particularly from the United States, Archbishop Yahaya described such opposition as ignorance, insisting that global security is interconnected.

“No nation is completely independent when it comes to security,” he said. “Security collaboration is normal, and Nigerians should not politicise insecurity because it affects everyone.”

He urged the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Information and the National Orientation Agency, to educate citizens on the importance of intelligence sharing and international partnerships in combating terrorism and kidnapping.

The Archbishop called for unity, peace, and progress in the country in 2026, stressing that insecurity knows no religion or ethnicity and must be addressed collectively. “We must come together, cage the lion of insecurity, and bury it, so that we can all live,” he said.
