Actor Kanayo slams Reno Omokri over comment on ailing Mr. Ibu

Prominent actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has slammed former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, for taunting the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, over the ailment of his colleague, John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu.

The Nation reported that Mr Ibu recently cried out for prayers following his battle with an unnamed illness, which may lead to the amputation of his legs.

The ailing actor cried out hours after a video of his birthday in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos emerged on social media.

He stated that he doesn’t want to lose his legs as he has nowhere to go.

Reacting to the news of the comic actor making the rounds online, Reno Omokri, in a post via X, pointed out that Mr Ibu was a staunch supporter of Peter Obi and the LP flag bearer should support the medical bill of the thespian.

He wrote: “I sympathise with John Ikechukwu Okafor, AKA Mr. Ibu, over his ailment, and I urge all #RenosNuggeteers to donate to the account number he put out.

“Please do not ignore his cries for help. I also urge members of the public to donate. However, this is a man who publicly endorsed Peter Obi. He and his daughter danced for Peter Obi and broke the Internet.

“They went out on the streets campaigning for Obi. The same Peter Obi who boasted that he is richer than President Biden of the US, who at the time of Peter’s boast was worth $8.2 million.

“After all that John Okafor did for him, perhaps Mr. Peter Obi can support him by paying Mr. Ibu’s medical bills. I am even surprised that Peter Obi did not remember to post about Mr. Ibu on his birthday yesterday. Even at that, Peter Obi should help him in his time of need.”

Displeased with Reno’s post, Kanayo O. Kanayo described Reno as an attention-seeking writer, and people should avoid listening to him.

“Whoever still listens to this attention- seeking writer @renoomokri is a fool and has no work,” he wrote.

Why people didn’t support me at #BBNaijaAllStars- Mercy Eke

Big Brother Naija star, Mercy Eke, has stated why people refused to support her while on the All-Stars season of the reality show.

She said she didn’t gather a lot of support because people were being sentimental because she won the ‘Pepper Dem’ edition in 2019.

Speaking in a recent interview with Hero Daniels, Mercy broke down in tears, lamenting that her only “crime” was wanting “more”.

She said: “This last season of Big Brother, at a point, I started questioning myself like I feel like I’m too ambitious. Is it a good thing for a woman to want more? Because people almost made me feel like I’m too greedy. And most times when I talk to Biggie that’s what I ask him.

“In my head, I started questioning myself: Do I want too much? Should I have not looked for this? Okay fine, I’m not hungry but if I want this green, can I not want this pink? And is there a problem if I want white? It made me start questioning myself too much. Wetin I even get? I don’t even have anything but people made it like let others be there.

“I didn’t have any support apart from my fans. It’s still in my head and I’m not lying because it’s just pure hatred and wickedness that I went through. And I thank God that I went back to the show because I didn’t know that that is how people saw me. They almost made me feel like I’m wanting too much even though I don’t have it like that.

“I just respect myself. Package myself. Even when I don’t eat, nobody is going to know. What people showed me, is just pure wickedness for nothing. Just for trying to be more. For trying to work harder. It was not easy to accept to go back into the House. Remember we had another winner in the House. But the energy they gave me both inside and outside the House, oh God! I said they would not see my tears. They will keep seeing me shine. That’s what I said to myself.

“But that is pure wickedness because I checked myself, what did I do wrong? I did not do anything wrong. I did not commit any crime. The only crime I committed was wanting more.”
