Taiwo Awoniyi moved within three goals of the highest scorer in the German Bundesliga after he netted again in Union Berlin’s home win over Wolfsburg.
Awoniyi who had scored three goals from his previous two games in all competitions before the game made it four when he put Union Berlin in the lead in the 49th minute for his sixth league goal of the season.

Sheraldo Becker did score the second goal in the 83rd minute and the Nigerian was substituted a minute later to thunderous applause from the home fans ahead of their next week commitment in Europe.
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland currently dictates the pace in the race for the highest scorer with nine goals while Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich is on seven goals but with a game at hand to be played today.
