Bago mourns Buhari, hails late former president as icon of integrity, patriotism

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as an elder statesman who left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s history.

In a condolence message, Governor Bago praised the late president’s life of discipline, service to humanity, and unwavering dedication to nation-building.

“Former President Buhari was an icon of integrity and patriotism,” Bago said. “From his days as a military officer to his leadership as Head of State in 1983 and later as a democratically elected president in 2015 and 2019, he remained committed to the fight against corruption and the advancement of Nigeria.”

The governor highlighted key achievements of Buhari’s administration, including the expansion of rail infrastructure, road rehabilitation, the establishment of Social Investment Programmes (SIP), and reforms in agriculture and security.

He added that Buhari’s contributions to national development, despite numerous challenges, will not be forgotten.

Governor Bago extended his heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation over the loss of a distinguished leader.
