Bago wins polling unit in Niger

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, Hon Umar Mohammed Bago has won his polling unit in Tswasha Giraba in Bida local government area.

He scored 249 votes to beat his rival of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 58 after the result of the polling unit was announced.

Speaking earlier, Bago commended the conduct of the governorship and state assembly elections in the state.

Bago who spoke shortly after casting his vote at the his polling unit also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), lauded the conduct of the election and the huge turn out by the electorate to vote.

He is presently representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency in Niger State.

He said, “INEC has done very well, fantastically…and we are okay. We don’t have any problem for now. Everything is okay. The BVAS is working. The turnout is massive and by the grace of God, we are there.”

Also the member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency of Niger in the House of Representatives, Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi, also lauded the conduct of the elections.

He expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress will sweep the governorship and national assembly elections, as they fielded credible and competent candidates.

This, he said, improved voters’ confidence which encouraged people to turn out enmasse to vote.

He also lauded INEC for its efforts to conduct a peaceful poll.
