THE Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council (NENYLC) has described the ongoing feud between Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello and the People’s Democratic Party senatorial candidate, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as capable of causing breach of the peace and disruption of law and order in Kogi State.

While suing for peace, the group appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and resolve the issues between both parties.

The youth leaders urged Bello to reconsider his stance on the feud between him and the former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party as a leader and lover of democracy in the state.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, President General, NENYLC, Comrade Terry Obeih, noted that persistence of the rift will make the atmosphere unsafe for women participation in politics and governance.

Obeih said: “The two contending forces are both youths within our context. As a matter of promotion of democracy and inclusion of women and youths in politics and governance, we call on His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya A. Bello to reconsider his stance on this feud as a leader and lover of democracy in the state. Persistence of this rift will make the atmosphere unsafe for women participation in politics and governance.

“We therefore urge both parties as well, to develop a cordial relationship, having come from the same ethnic group, senatorial district, state and peer group in order to bring development to bear on the constituency, state and the nation at large.”

The group also urged relevant stakeholders in the state to step in and resolve the lingering situation.

“We finally demand a ceasefire from all points of interest and attacks forthwith. We have emphatically spoken,” the group said.
