Chairperson and Managing Director of WAVES SARL, one of Benin’s foremost transportation companies, Mr Ebuka Okonkwo has congratulated the newly elected President of the Rotary Club, Porto-Novo Mr Yakoubou Baradou
“I wholeheartedly felicitate with you, Mr Yakoubou Badarou, on your well-deserved election as the President of the Rotary Club Porto-Novo. Your ascension to this esteemed position is a testament to your dedication, commitment, and passion for the work of the Rotary Club, and the broader objectives of enhancing community life,” Okonkwo said in a congratulatory message.
Okonkwo, as a Rotarian, encouraged Badarou to embrace the responsibilities that come with this leadership position.
He underscored the necessity for the new president to remember that the essence of leadership is about service, and not just power.
“Leadership, in its truest form, is not about enjoying the privilege of the title, but rather about the responsibility it brings. It is about the commitment to improving the lives of others and fostering an environment where everybody feels valued, heard, and motivated to contribute to the common good,” Okonkwo stated.

Drawing from his own experience in leading WAVES SARL, Okonkwo added: “As a leader, you will face challenges and make difficult decisions, but remember, it is your integrity, empathy, and dedication to service that will guide you through.”
He also expressed gratitude to the outgoing president of the Rotary Club Porto-Novo Madame Hermione Dossu-Kohi and her team of executives, thanking them for their service and dedication during their tenure.
“Let’s not forget the sterling work of the outgoing presidents, whose tireless efforts have strengthened the foundations upon which the Rotary Club of Porto-Novo stands today. We express our heartfelt gratitude and applaud their unwavering commitment to service,” he said.
Okonkwo extended his best wishes to Badarou, expressing hope for the continued prosperity and growth of the Rotary Club Porto-Novo under its new leadership.
He promised to lend his unwavering support and collaboration in the club’s efforts to serve the community.
