The Senior Pastor of Mercy Seat Tabernacle Lagos Pastor Chinedu Momah has attributed increasing moral degeneration in the society to change of focus among churches.
He pointed out many churches have substituted messages honesty, integrity, love and compassion for the poor for prosperity and miracles.
Momah spoke at the Beyond the Home- My Focus, my Future seminar organised by Insightful Ladies Forum recently at the church headquarters in Bariga.
He said that the level of more decadence in the society has gotten so deep to the point churches cannot excuse themselves again.
The cleric lamented many churches have shifted attention from sound teachings to mundane things without eternal values.
He further bemoaned the current trend where churches compete with cathedrals and congregational size as against discipleship.
Momah noted the church remains the answer to corruption, idleness and criminality across the nation, urging them to rise up to the occasion through social actions.
The cleric appealed to the church not to remain indifferent to the 15 million out-of-school children across the nation, saying it was imperative for them to provide free educational opportunities for indigent students to curb crimes and vices among young people.
He noted that church should set up scholarship opportunity for indigent children to go to school and the children will never forget the act of love to them even in the face of pressure to do wrong.
