A seven-storey investment building being built by the Borno State government in Abuja is expected to be completed in six months, the contractors handling the project told Governor Kashim Shettima yesterday at the construction site. The project, the tallest in its neighbourhood, was awarded by the Shettima administration on January 2 last year at the cost of N4.5 billion, with July 2, 2016 deadline.
Borno has been without an investment building in Abuja, although land was allocated to the state over 10 years ago. The previous administrations failed to utilise the 8,700 square metres plot and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) attempted to withdraw the allocation in a commercially-viable area near the Federal Ministry of Justice in the Central Area of the FCT.
The Shettima administration, however, secured the plot, completed documentation, awarded contract and mobilised contractors to execute an ultra-modern building with 10 floors, including a paint office and a basement to accommodate about 70 cars to be used by corporate bodies, who rent offices.
