THE African Union has appointed President Muhammadu Buhari to champion its 2018 annual theme on anti-corruption.
Buhari, according to a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and signed by the Special Assistant to the Minister, Sarah Sanda, was endorsed by fellow African leaders at the recently concluded 29th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
This is in recognition of his administration’s commitment and success in the fight against corruption in Nigeria and globally.
The 2018 annual theme is: “Winning the fight against corruption: Sustainable path to Africa’s transformation”.
Buhari has been a major inspiration to Africa in frontally combatting corruption and bringing positive change towards building a sustainable and prosperous Africa.
By this role, the President is expected to provide exemplary and resourceful leadership by working closely with the other African leaders, the AU Commission and development partners to collectively fashion out common programmes for the continent-wide application of the anti-corruption theme in member states.
