President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday charged public officers entrusted with responsibilities to live up to their duties and justify the confidence reposed in them.
Doing that, he said, was the only way Nigerians can get out of the current hardships facing the nation.
Buhari spoke while decorating two of the newly promoted officers of the Nigerian Police Force with their new ranks.
Congratulating the officers, the President in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, urged them to justify their new ranks by increasing their commitment to the service of the nation.
He also commended them for their hard work and achievements which brought about their promotion.
He said that Nigeria needed their dedication and unwavering commitment for it to achieve greatness and assume its rightful position.
The President cautioned them not to abuse their positions.
Abdulkarim Dauda and Kayode Sikiru Akande, both promoted from the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police, serve as the Chief Personal Security Officer to the President and the Officer in Charge of Presidential Movement respectively.
