Businessman seeks Sanwo-Olu’s intervention in land dispute

The Group Managing Director of Master’s Reality International Concept, Olaide Omotola, has called on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene in a plan to dispossess him of his property on Iju Road, Agege.

Omotola said he bought the land in contention about four years ago but some people, using the government apparatus, want to dispossess him of the land.

According to him, those who sold the land to him have testified to selling the land to him before a committee set by the Ministry of Justice to handle the case of land grabbing brought against him. The structure on the said land was also demolished by the state Taskforce on land grabbing. A report ‘Task force dislodges land-grabbers from couple’s land’ was also published in a newspaper on January 27, 2020.

But Omotola insisted the matter hinged upon land dispute and not land grabbing as alleged. He added that aside plans to dispossess him of the land, there is also an attempt to cow him with legal process.

He said: “The reason for this is because I have demanded for a compensation of N76 million for the demolition of my property. But there is a grand plan to discredit me, embarrass me and put me in custody because some people don’t want me to get compensation.

“I will not be intimidated because I am a stakeholder in this state. I am a tax payer and via my company, I have paid over N200 million in government fees in the last 12 months, and this can be verified from the account of Masters Reality Int’l Concepts Ltd. I deserve respect and not intimidation. I hereby call on the governor’s intervention.

“I am constrained to use this medium to communicate to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu after writing a letter to him on same issue. It has become apparent to me how the state Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice Moyosore Onigbanjo is bent on using the judiciary to embarrass my person and put me in custody for his own selfish and personal interest.”

But Onigbanjo said a warrant of arrest was issued on Omotola because he refused to present himself in court.

“He is now trying to use the press to blackmail and escape from facing charges. If indeed the documents are forged as he alleges, why not go to court and make a case for the charges to be dismissed based on his allegations. We’ll issue a full statement tomorrow when work resumes,” Onigbanjo said.
