Action kicked-off in the 2023 WAFU B Women CAF Champions League Qualifiers with Delta Queens thrashing Burkina Faso’s USFA 3-0 in the opening game played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin yesterday.

The reigning Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership winner beat all including last year’s Champions, Bayelsa Queens to pick the ticket to represent Nigeria in the flagship club’s competition for African women during the NWFL Premiership Super Six which they hosted.

It was Fajola Olabiyi that put the Nigerian team ahead in the opening five minutes at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The Nigerian team was reduced to 10 players after Vera Samuel was shown a red card by the referee later on in the second half but it didn’t deny Delta Queens the third goal.

Despite being a woman down, Delta Queens were able to add the third goal in the 79th  minute through Mercy Idoko and ensured  maximum points in the opening game.
