The Canadian government, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) have collaborated to train farmers and policymakers on profit making.
The Canadian government through its intergovernmental organisation, Commonwealth of Learning(COL) in a capacity-building workshop tagged ‘Scaling-up Lifelong Learning for Farmers’ held at the OAU campus yesterday attracted policymakers from several ministries of government across the southwest states and beyond.
The Vice-Chancellor, of Osun State University, Prof Clement Adebooye, who is one of the facilitators in his lecture tasked farmers to work toward the goals of Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) noting that they must embrace technology-driven farming to maximize profit and banish hunger.

He said “With this training, SDGs goals would be easily achieved and profit for farmers will step up through the implementation of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Smart agriculture needs to be prioritized by farmers through indirect learning so as to have greater productivity.”
Earlier, the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, OAU, Professor Adebayo Akinola, appealed to the participants to make use of the training to improve their future endeavors.
The Director, Agricultural & Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Dr Olufemi Oladunni explained that the training will ensure food security and boost the harvest of farmers in Nigeria.
