When Mufutau Musa of Lasa Primary school, Ibeshe, Amuwo Odofin, was called to be recognised as the best teacher for the year 2014/2015 academic session at the Merit award of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), he did not know he would be gifted with a Hyundai Xcent saloon car.
The gift was announced by the Chairman, Lagos SUBEB, Dr Ganiyu Sopeyin who said that he was rewarded for his outstanding performance.
“We will continue to reward outstanding performers among the workers and also provide adequate opportunities for others to emulate, if not surpass benchmarks set by their predecessors”, he said.
Musa however said the feat was only possible because God made his efforts to be recognised.
“Yes, I have been rewarded today because of my contribution to the development of my school and community at large. But I can tell you that all my efforts would not have been seen if not for God who counted me worthy to be honoured,” he said.
Education Secretary, Amuwo-Odofin Local Education Authority, Rev Atinuke Ogundiyi described the recipient as a hard worker who is known for excellence.
“He is always on suit; very disciplined and hardworking. Indeed he is worthy of emulation,” she said.
